Marvel announces movies for the next 5 years

Excited for these, but I hope they work something out for Civil War as far as other characters...

You don't even know how excited I am that Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing Doctor Strange, he is so perfect for that role.

Really excited about the annoucement. Can't wait for the Inhumans! Its just...mind-blowing to think that by the time Avengers Infinity comes out...Disney might be completely different.

Also extremely glad that RDJ showed up...there is noone that can pull off Tony Stark better then he can.

Calling it now...Hollywood Studios will turn into Marvel-land

Not possible because of contracts with universal Hollywood studios will not get marvel unless it's guardians of the galaxy no avengers characters whatsoever.

What I would be concerned about regarding the possible introduction of the SONY/FOX characters into the MCU, is how they would handle the continuity. At this point, there is a pretty solid degree of continuity in the MCU, which touches facets of all their productions. Look at Agents of SHIELD...

They are absolutely affected (or take into account) things that have happened in the other films (THOR: DARK WORLD, CA: WINTER SOLDIER).

I suppose that as long as Marvel is allowed to say: Pay no attention to the SONY/FOX continuity *which I gotta say is kinda weak...
and is allowed to weave the characters into the MCU continuity, I'm all for the lost sons and daughters of Marvel coming back "home".

Looking forward to all of it.

Not a HUGE deal, but for the folks who follow the comics ... Marvel films and comics seem dead set on making Tony an a** hat. Civil War, the current 2-year 'Time Runs Out' Illuminati Story ... I really think after seeing the AoU trailer, the cinematic universe is also going to make Tony the bad guy. Not the major villain, but again, if you read the comics, Tony can't seem to get a break. I think the reason we won't be seeing an Iron Man 4 is due to the antagonist role he will play post AoU.

Even if Marvel suddenly had rights back to all the characters they sold off, they wouldn't be doubling down on the number of movies they are making. I think you'd probably just see fewer lesser known characters getting movies. Marvel would probably not be doing Dr. Strange and Black Panther but making more Spiderman and X-Men movies instead, and almost certainly wouldn't be doing Deadpool.
I always point this out to people and everyone keeps think Disney will produce 12 movies a year or some nonsense like that.
I personally think when contracts are up, they should resign more of a out sourcing/consignment like contract. Run the properties like how the comics are with Avenger, X-men, Spider-Man, FF, Ect. all kind stick to their family of books with cross overs ever so often. Literally all studios would stand to make a ton of money. Like more people would be up for seeing a new Fantastic Four or Ghost Rider if it was connected to Avengers. It worked for Incredible Hulk when a lot of people weren't up for it because of how bad the first hulk was.

Yep......I've wondered about that since people got excited about a possible Civil War story line. It reminds me of DC's more recent Injustice line, where Superman loses it and decides to run the world, but in that series they are clear about it and at least the readers know they have to suspend disbelief near the start. I don't think Marvel created Civil War with Stark & company as clear cut villains, but it seems to work out that way. I don't know if superhero movie fans are ready for Game of Thrones style moral ambiguity.

The contracts only run out if the studios stop making the movies for a while, which Fox an Sony seem determined not to do. Fox did let Daredevil go but seems determined to hold on to X-Men and Fantastic Four. The Sony situation is interesting; they were determined to build their own cinematic universe around Spiderman, but TASM2 didn't set the world on fire and that may be on hold now. That seems to be why they are rumored to be talking to Marvel like described in the article above.

Also for injustice it was set up that the story where superman snapped was an alternate universe. Its not the first time that superman has snapped in an alternate universe either (the entire justice league did once after flash died in that universe. They decided that the villians had to be stopped and started having superman lobotomize them all.

Also it wasn't THAT much of a stretch for the character. There has always been the idea that the more pure someone is the harder they fall when their world is broken. I don't think given that and how pure white superman is (yes there was and how almost sheltered he always was - he wasn't old enough to actually know his parents when he lost them) that if his wife and child were killed like in that series that he wouldn't snap and kill someone and just keep going. (Going with the boy scout superman of old, not the newer one that was actually willing to kill Zod)

But I think making Tony a villian is going to be a problem for me... partially because he was always my favorite. (DC better not make batman the bad guy either) but partially because I don't see it really happening unless done VERY carefully. Tony would have to really still think what he was doing was better for everyone.

He is! To be honest, I hadn't thought of him, but once the news broke I did a forehead slap! Can't wait to hear "By the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth!" in that voice!
