Marvel a 25% Service Tariff for renting DVC points thru Canadian company?

Dvc rental store sample prices for universal swaps are also false as I was quoted and the points per night were actually more than what their highest point range listed cost was... the highest point per night listed for Universal Portofino is 27 points per night and in the low season of September it was 33 points per night for a standard room! I did point this out on an email and it was ignored... not a good look...

That’s why it’s really important to look at the specials and deals booking for cash….i checked rates for a DCL cruise against a sample they gave and it did cost more.

Having said that, if I wanted to deal with renting and the same company, it might work.

The only reason I would do the swap would be taxes.

They claim you don't have to pay taxes as they are technically paying you but are exchanging the points and applying it to a different product.
Don't ask me if that is legal but that is what they have advertised on a few podcasts.

I would rather rent them out and then use some type of rewards credit card to book but that is just me.

The tax thing is why I inquired because i heard too that there was no tax implications, but after reading another thread it seems like you could possibly still be on the hook for taxes... clearly I don't trust it 🤣🤣 dvc rental shade 😆

I don’t know about the quote but to me it would be a good deal. Assuming they are basing it on $18 a point that 33 point exchange comes to under $600. After looking at several dates for September the cheapest room was $750 although none were listed as “standard” but sure looked like standard rooms to me.

Yes whatever the price is on UO website it's the same as selling the points at $18 each and then booking. At the time of inquiring it was cheaper than now, I noticed the price has jumped significantly probably bcuz the epic tickets just went on sale.

It's not a bad option if your going to sell points to turn around and book, might as well use it and cut out all the hassle of renting yourself, I guess my issue is that the point estimates on the website are inaccurate and it was a waste of time inquiring because when i saw the points listed were 17-27 Points for that specific hotel i was like heck yes should be around 17 points for the low season and yeah I doubt any night there would only cost 17 points. The cheapest room at the time I inquired was $523 so you can imagine now it would be much higher than what they're saying on the website.

I’ve tried to rent through David’s as a renter (I didn’t know what I was doing so requested way too late and didn’t get an actual available rental), and have also rented points through them as an owner. Honestly? They’ve had impeccable service when I have dealt with them. Really honest and open seeming. I have heard there are complaints about pandemic era business handling. I don’t know much about it, but David’s has had amazing communication when I have dealt with them.
I have pretty much the same history with them. Tried to rent far too late (was a DVC newb at the time lol). Nothing that I wanted was available so they refunded my deposit right away. Since becoming a DVC owner, I have rented twice with them. Communication, service, payments, etc. all top notch!

I love davids, their chat feature, kind customer service and availability to talk over the phone and book on the spot is wonderful. If you use the chat feature, you don't even have to put a deposit, you can just ask if a room is available and they'll look it up for you and tell you and you can proceed from there. There's no long waiting, we rented 5 different dvc resorts in january and everything was flawless
