Being from the NE I didn't know about the closet either. I knew about the basement but that was about all since we don't have to worry about tornado's.

When I was in Jr. High, I had a small obsession with Kiefer Sutherland and I had a lifesize cardboard cutout of him. The tornado sirens went off and my dad yelled for us to get to the basement but I had to save Kiefer first so I threw him in the bathtub and then headed for the basement. My dad about throttled me. LOL

Oh how funny. Back in high school I had a thing for Tom Cruise. Now I would probably throw his crazy butt right out in the tornado!

I was never taught to go to a closet. I guess it is because we have basements. We are told to go to the basement and wrap our arms and legs aroung a lolly column.

I'm in the midwest and I've never heard of going to a closet (specifically). Basement first, bathroom second, interior room third. So I suppose that could be a closet. My bedroom closet is actually on an exterior wall so that would not be the place to go.

I agree with the others that MS, living in the NE, wouldn't know about that. And I'm also hoping that her linens comment was a joke. Although I'm not sure that would be the best time to be joking around.
