MARTHA STEWART AT MICHAEL's - an 18 x 18" scrapbook - how many of you will get it?

I think for me it's more the pricetag that makes me cringe. there are many other scrapbooking toys that I'd rather have than an 80$ album. that's just INSANE. clearly her home detention addled her brain. maggie

it's just too big and way too expensive. who wants to invest that much just for an album and then still have to turn around and buy everything just to use it?!

Holy god. Who is going to be willing to pay $80 an album? I do a few albums a trip, with the amount of pictures that I take (usually 10+ rolls a trip). That would be ridiculous, even if I could fit a few more pics in the album being so huge. Geez. Will have to go check out the new section though, just out of curiosity.

I would definitely not go out and buy new tools to work with larger paper. That is going to turn a lot of people away. I will look at her stuff though to see what's up but I don't I will purchase much. Personally I think she is about a year to late to jump on the scrapbooking band wagon.

18x18 is way to big for my to use. But I am hoping that she does have a nice line of paper. I have a couple of 12X15 ( I think thats the size) that I use for the kids professional pictures. I like that size so that I dont have to cut the 10X13 pictures to fit into a 12X12 album.

I've had trouble with the coupons lately since I go in and the things on my list are already on sale and since I'm trying to be more responsible I can't just find anything that I want to buy. Of course the last couple of weeks its been since everything is already clearanced but thats another story.
I have been having the same problem....I collect the coupons and off to the store I go only to find anything I wanted was already on sale and the coupon is useless. I think they put out the coupons to get you there and then you buy but can't use the coupon ...pretty smart.
For all the reasons already mentioned I won't buy her album. i guess I would possibly buy some of her embellisments or paper (to cut down) if they were absolutely georgous, but I have enough trouble coming up with a design for a 12 x 12 page.

Me too.

are you KIDDING me? 80 bucks for an album? for that much it better be scrapping the pages for me. :rotfl2: maggie
:thumbsup2 That is insane. No way that would I pay that for an album. Not even a Disney one. ;)

You lot need to come live in England for a while and gain some perspective!!! :lmao: The cheapest I can get a 12x12 for is $20 (and it'll start falling apart before I've gotten it home! :rotfl2: Standard album from a designer like K&Co or similar would be $60ish and a high quality top one can easily exceed $80 at current exchange rate.
:scared1:

I know Michael's is all set to roll out the martha stewart stuff later this month....

how many of you are going to get the 18 x 18' scrapbook? I can't even imagine scrapping something that large. (I do 12x12 now).

Anyone? Thoughts?

I just think that's way too big for my taste. I really like the 12 x12 the best.

seriously? wow. I'd have to start making my own or something. Actually at this point, I have no idea what our albums cost cause I don't buy them, just page protectors which I then stick in a D ring binder. (although those seem to be getting harder to find). martha stewart stuff is bound to be over priced mostly because it's the whole "name" thing. maggie

Queenie, you need to go to Michael's at the Loop on Osceola Parkway next time you're over here!

OK so I was at M's today. Most of the aisle is dedicated to craft kits. The loose paper is $1.99 a sheet. Kind of pricey if you ask me. They had all the tags set and the aisle was finished but nothing was out yet. That's the latest news from my end.

are you kidding me? 1.99 for a piece of paper???? I'm not seeing that sell well, but what do I know? :) maggie

(oh I forgot it was that random 18x18 size but still.....)

I saw this today and I agree with everyone else. Way TOO BIG! Yes you could get lots of photos on a page but you wouldn't be able to lift it. I picked up the album cover and almost dropped it. They had only plain off white paper and they wouldn't fit on a shelf. You would have to custom make a shelf to hold it. But I supposed people had the same things to say when 12 x 12 size came out.

I'm wondering who her focus group was for this project.

The Michaels near where I work has their scrapbook sections done. The 18x18 book is HUGE! I can't imagine where anyone would put it. It is $74.99. I seen a couple of things that were cute that I might get eventually, but definitely not an 18x18 book! Yikes!

I was in our Mike's last night and the aisle is all set up, but it's completely blocked off. People were hanging over the shopping carts and ropes they had set up to check out the stuff. :lmao: It's nice, but expensive. The 18x18 paper is 1.99 and it's like 3 or 4 patters all in like 4 colors and the album is gigantic--I don't know where anyone would store it.

well, I saw the new martha stuff today.... I am not impressed at all. It's expensive, it's not "new and innovative" and I can't imagine that it's going to sell well. That 18x18 book is HUGE and really heavy and that's empty, I can't imagine what it's going to weigh with stuff in it. It's also really stupid not to let people use coupons on the stuff. maggie

I saw them yesterday and man 'o man they are HUGE. Bulky to even pick up with nothing in it. The album must be 20X20 in size with the papers being 18X18. Crazy.

The only thing I did like is the paper and that is because I have 12X15 albums that I cant find paper for but I can get the 18X18 and cut it but it is $1.99 a sheet.

The MS things are pretty but very pricey. Not something I would invest alot of it into
