I have been told that the magic called at Marseille instead of Villfranche on 7 night med cruise. Does anyone know if this was the case and if so why?

I thought one person reported that the seas were too rough for the tenders to operate into Villefranche. But I don't know that it was more than one.

Ah that makes sense thanks I was wondering if they were thinking of changing the port of call thanks

I was on that cruise and yes, it was because the port agent felt the conditions weren't safe to operate the tenders. It was strange as we couldn't really feel any movement on the ship! So they swapped the sea day to the Thursday and arranged for us to visit Marseille on the Friday instead. We were really impressed that they could sort that out so quickly and Marseille was a great city to visit.

Thanks so much for your reply I was secretly hoping they may be changing the port of call from Villefranche as I've been there with DCL and fancy visiting Marseille!!!

Was also on that cruise, and yes tendering wasn't possible. Apparently, Disney attempted (unsuccessfully) to negotiate port charges with Monaco for a last minute change on the day and this was the next best option. I'd be surprised if Disney would change itineraries favouring Marseille. The port-city bus literally shows the "rawness" of France's second largest city. We drove past an immigrant camp on the side of the motorway, and some guests didn't even get off the bus, instead deciding to stay onboard and return to the ship. Having said that, as a young couple, we loved the last minute change! We didn't visit the city though, instead we journeyed a half hour away via crowded train to Cassis and saw the Calanques. Too bad Disney didn't come up with an excursion for this last minute, it was the highlight of our trip even with the stress of going it alone.

Ahh thanks so much for your reply we loved Monaco and Monte Carlo on our last cruise and considered Marseille on the train but 2.5hrs is a bit too far with a 10 and 8 yr old. We did all our excursions ourselves on the trains and I think it adds massively to the experience

We were on it as well and we felt a ton of rocking! Especially the night before, it woke us up and we couldn't get back to bed. At 6 am we looked out the windows and the waves were reaching up to our 1st floor port holes! We thought Marseille was a great city. Wished we would have stayed in the city longer but we couldn't figure out anything to do and we couldn't use internet so couldn't even look it up. And we didn't even know anything about the city.

Thanks so much for all your replies, can anyone confirm so you get frozen deck party and pirate deck party now on the med cruises?
