We are DVC owners and recently we previewed the new MVC Surf Watch Resort on HHI. Any info on this resort and the MVC would be greatly appreciated.

We own with Marriott but not at Surf Watch. Marriott is a little different than Disney in that you reserve by the week rather than by the day. All Marriott stays are 7 nights. We like the trade advantages you get with Interval International. YOu can trade to other Marriotts with a 21 day window over non-Marriott owners. So, that is another way they are different. They do not have their own internal trade system within Marriott. You must got through Interval which can get costly. With interval you pay a fee to trade. Some trades are very difficult to get like Hilton Head in the summer or Hawaii, etc... Some of the Marriotts have lockoff capabilities where you can split the unit into a 1 bedroom and a studio. So, you can either stay at your resort for 2 weeks using a studio one week and then, the 1 bedroom the other week. Or you can deposit you week in Interval and have 2 weeks to trade. Many will recommend buying resale. The only advantage from buying from the developer is they allow you to trade your week for Marriott points. Points can be use for hotel, air and/or car. I recommend buying at a place you know you'll visit. Maybe buy a place where you can drive to.

You can also visit the Tug page and you'll find a lot of information there. It is free to join. You can pay to get access to the reviews of the resorts, etc... Definitely research it throughly. You don't want to make the wrong decision!
Good luck!
