Hi all -

We will be going to Disney for our Honeymoon 9/23-9/30 this year - woo hoo! Anyhow, we were given a week at The Marriott Grande Vista by my parents. Has anyone stayed there? If so, is this a nice place for a honeymoon? Is it far from Disney? Any tips?

Thanks in advance!
Leah

Bumping it up....

Does anyone know anything about Marriott Grande Vista?

Thanks in advance for any input :)

Thanks for the reply.... We have a 2 bedroom reserved.

I have stayed at the Marriott Cypress Harbor before, but I wasn't sure if it was much different or not.

Since we will be at Disney most of the week, we won't be using much of the facilities. But since it is our Honeymoon, I wanted somewhere that had a relaxing feel to it.

sorry I would have picked Cypress Harbour.

GV is bigger than CH and not as well organzied. (my opinion)

make sure you either get a new room or rehab one. - they have been rehabing for years now - see why CH is better.

if you parents could get a Marriott - they might be able to get a DVC resort. Not that DVC resort are much better - they aren't. but they are on property so you can get all the Disney perks. also you can buy the DDP.

now no 2-bedrooms (or hardly any) - but definitely some 1-bedroom.

My FIL&MIL have a timeshare there. We have stayed there a couple of times of our trips to the World and the resort is pretty nice.. It's only about 2 miles from Seaworld (maybe less). Which makes it not very far from Disney. They offer shuttle service to the parks (US, Seaworld, Disney), however, it is not free and not all that easy to deal with. I would suggest driving to the parks yourself.

It is a timeshare and they are likely to ask you to sit in on "the pitch". In my experiences with that, they will call your room and leave messages, and the later in the week, the better stuff they offer to entice you to go... If you have a bit of time to kill, and are not easily suckered into something might be worth it if their offer is good enough.

We stayed away from the mainbuilding, but had a pretty nice pool near our building with a hot tub as well. The main pool has all kinds of sprinklers, shooting water fountains etc. if your into that... (in other words a kid at heart).. lol depending on what kind of room you have, might have the big jacuzzi tub, king bed with stand up shower etc.. :thumbsup2

Overall it's really nice.. My family (DW, DD5, DD13) will be going Aug 8 to POFQ. It will be my first experience ONSITE.. we're soo excited... :cool1:

Might have some pictures we took, i will try and find and post..

Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, my parents own at CH therefore they can't trade into DVC :sad1: - we did try though.... I have stayed at CH before, and I was just looking to stay somewhere new on my honeymoon.

Good info - thanks. We are renting a car and plan on driving to each of the parks. Thanks for the info on the pools - we may just have to go play in them, lol! Have fun at POFQ!!! :)

We had a great time in Marriott Grande Vista as we went for our honeymoon. The staff are very cooperative and well maintained, It is not so far drive way from disney.:)

kanon, adamm, mike256 - Thank you all for your replies. Does anyone remember how long it takes to get to Disney? I know the maps say it is approx 8 miles - is that about 15 mins?

if you take the road in front - then yes about 15 minutes.

if you take I-4 about 5 to 7 minutes.

that say I-4 can get very, very crowded during busy times - and then it can easily take over an hour (remember you are using SW exit and WDW is the next one down - well DD is)

spiceycat - Thanks for the run down on the directions. So I guess it might make it easier to not use I-4 in the morning....thanks for the heads up :thumbsup2
