and need to confess!:lovestruc I'm in looooovvve!

Okay, I've been married to The Wilderness Lodge for 5 years now and I love it so very dearly. But alas..this year, I strayed to the Poly...and there were sparks flying all over the place. I wasn't able to book at the 11 month window at my beloved Lodge and there was nothing available for Thanksgiving by the time I was able to book so I booked a cabin at Fort Wilderness for the first 6 nights and a water view room at the Yacht Club for the last 4. (no rooms available at the Poly either, btw). When we got down there, I just kept calling.. and the day before we were to move to the Yacht Club, I was able to snag the Polynesian! Can you hear me squeal?? (That new $95.00 fee bit me in the butt a few times though! I hated that.) When we checked in, we received a lovely garden view room but when we got there, we found a maintenance crew, ladders, ceilings down and work being done, much to our surprise. Soooo, we called down to the front desk and they said, whoopsie, that room was supposed to be offline. We are so sorry. Guess we'll have to put you in CONCIERGE for your trouble! (Hello, trouble? The place was gorgeous! I would have been happy to sleep by the pool, thank you very much). Needless to say, it was a very magical few days, every minute of which I enjoyed. Thanks to DVC, we are not park commandos, so we really got to enjoy lounging around the resort. I just can't tell you how wonderful it felt.

So....while I still love the Wilderness Lodge, and it was my first love....I'm just not sure I can give up my new love.:cloud9: I'm still on cloud nine. Grin. With a screen name like mine, can ya really blame me?

You'll just have to be a two-timer!:rotfl2:

:lmao:

I have never stayed at the Polynesian, but have visited and I can only imagine. I can't imagine it stealing my heart from WL, but I'm not willing to take that chance yet. ;) Glad you had a great trip. Did you enjoy Ft. Wilderness?

Well, Miss Dory...to be honest, it didn't exactly steal my heart...I actually want to have my cake and eat it too.;) 50 Years...two timing it is, I guess.:rotfl:

Yes, I loved the Fort. The cabins were wonderful, as we have 3 little boys and it gave us all a little privacy. We are bigtime campers and Fort Wilderness is a camper's heaven.

It was such a great trip. I'll try to figure out how to post some pictures later of all three. The Lodge (we spent a lovely afternoon there), Fort Wilderness, and the Poly. Originally, I was disappointed that I was unable to book a DVC unit (even at 4 months out I couldn't get all of our days at any resort on property which was very frustrating at the time. I'm terrible at waitlisting). But really, this turned out to be one of the best trips we've ever had.:goodvibes

I understand and say go for it! There is no reason you can't love them both.

I also love Ft. Wilderness. We have stayed there probably 8 times with our 4 boys and they always had such fun in the campground. When we would come home the grandparents would ask what they liked the best and it would be things like tetherball, the campfire sing-a-long. They always looked at the boat from the campground to MK as their first attraction.

I love that DVC gives us so many good choices. I have only stayed at Ft. Wilderness, WL, and OKW so I am thinking it would be fun to try some others.

Glad your trip turned out to be the best ever. My oldest 2 are in college now, so they won't be with us on our next trip in March.

Well I have to observe that with a screen name like HulaGirl, this was bound to happen at some point.

Isn't that funny? My boys feel that way about the boat too. And tetherball...my boys discovered that on this trip and consider that a new must do attraction. It was so fun watching them play this time. For me..it was even better than the parks.

ahhh, Poly concierge...sighhh. Yes, I do understand. My DH and I "love" our Poly, but "love" our DVC too. Did you have a concierge room with a lagoon view?

I'd have to say, if you're gonna cheat.... And the upgrade to concierge...too cool.

I would love to stay at the poly. Just give me an excuse to splurge with my points there. No really, give me one....please?;) Being at SSR we don't have a problem w/the 11 month window. So you'll have to be more creative.

Kiki...we had a garden view way down at the end of the hall right next to the glass doors. We looked out on lush vegetation and the quiet pool beyond. It was very private and really beautiful. I wasn't disappointed at all. When we walked out our door, we immediately turned left and we were on the beach. The walkway leading to the room had a view of the castle every night when we got home. Sigh.

Bear...The Poly cleans up after itself every morning and every night and turns the lights down low, turns down your sheets and feeds you chocolates in bed.:rotfl: How's that for incentive?

Bear...the castle view late at night and early in the morning. For my DH, sitting under his favorite palm tree on the beach to read with his refillable mug:thumbsup2

If they would just convert some of those garden view rooms to DVC studios..;) Maybe in the Rotearoa or Rapa Nui longhouses, convert the garden view rooms, they're 416 -476 sq ft. and the SSR studios are 355 sq ft. Oh we can only dream;)
