Marriage: The Trip Report - Update 2/28 - Final Thoughts & Link to Disneyland TR!

Great updates Brook! I've been to Kennedy Space Center, but I'm trying to think when....maybe my parents took me, so yeah, it's been a while. The shuttle program would have been in its infancy back then.

OK Caught up.

So glad you liked the BLT studio and I like your view. I still think its too cramped, but I will stay there again. How can I not?

Wow - MK was seriously crowded. What's up with that?

KSC - I can't wait to go back. I love that place and I, too, am sorry to see the space program end. So glad Henry loved it. That picture of his first trip there is so cute.

The ghetto gas station story was not very appealing! :sad2::rotfl:

Looks like a lovely morning!

And then you had this nice evening in MK with a sweet surprise.

I love the convenience of the CR. Which makes it our fave resort.

Loved this latest update! I really enjoyed looking at the pictures of Kennedy Space Center and seeing how much fun Henry had. We haven't been to the space coast in many many years. As a matter of fact, Hunter was about Henry's age of your first visit there. Gosh, I'm getting old!

Great trip offsite Brooke. I have never been to KSC - it looks like my boys would love it.

I love Cracker Barrel also!

I think your boys would enjoy it! It's really very unique and they have enough for kids to enjoy (hands-on), and adults too. It's done well!

Awesome KSC update!!

Your pictures & timeline of your day are just about the same ad ours in July. :) I took two 15 yr old self-proclaimed science geeks & they LOVED it. I was wiped out we we got back to our rental house but it was a great day.

I'm glad your meal was better this time! Cracker Barrel is one of my favorites. And you're right, the prices are VERY reasonable!!

Oh I bet they would love it!! Isn't it cool? There is so much to see and do. We didn't even come close to reading all the various signs and things - and there is another movie that we missed too. I'd love to do the "Lunch with an Astronaut" sometime when Henry is older to hear about their experiences.

Brook, great update on Kennedy Space Center...yet another place we've never been. Henry really seemed to enjoy it.

I think you guys would enjoy it if you ever head that way! Henry does enjoy it, he still talks about it and enjoys seeing the pictures and videos from our trip.

What a wonderful update(s) My grandparents took me to Kennedy when I was 16 and I loved it! We had to best ime there, and my Grandpa who was a B52 bomber pilot in WWII was like a giest speker that day. When people there found out he was a pilot, they keep him talking for ever! It's wonderful place to visit, and someday I hope to bring my kids.

The Wishes pictureds were beautiful! I would love to see it form the top of the Contemporary, maybe someday we'll do Cali grill.

Oh wow! How cool that your Grandpa got to speak there! I'm sure people were just fascinated...I know I would have been. Just to hear his amazing experiences!!

I must agree with onelilspark: Best reaction ever!

:scared1:

Oh my gosh, you both look so young!

Those Disney roads are kind of confusing, especially around Epcot and the resorts.

Oh you have to try Cracker Barrel since you'll be so close to one! They might even have one in Orlando?? I have no idea. It's stinkin' GOOD!

And I know! We look soooooo young. And that was only 3 years ago! Having a toddler ages a person I think! ;)

Ooh, cool update! My dad and I really want to visit the Space Center sometime. Great pictures! The video of Henry explaining the launchpad was too cute. :goodvibes

You guys should definitely go! It's really a lot of fun and so interesting. It's worth the time away, and it has it's own "Disney feel" with it's unique theme music. I love that video of him explaining the launchpad too. I was so impressed when he started telling me about it, I just had to film him!

We're trying to move to Melbourne this Spring. It's right in the general area of KSC (it's a great area for software engineers, which my husband is.) From my understanding, while they've discontinued the shuttle program, they're still launching satellites. I have a friend who works for Nasa in Houston as a flight controller and he still has his job, so they haven't totally shut everything down!

Yes, that is right! I forgot they were going to still launch satellites! YAY! I'm sooooo glad! I do wish they would keep the shuttles going here too though. We very much wanted to see a launch (and even had a trip planned once for one). Maybe someday we'll get to see a satellite go up at least though!

I wish you the best with your move. I wonder if that area is good for Server Admins too...:scratchin I love NYC, but hear the siren call of Florida!

 :goodvibes I can picture a young Glennbo fascinated with everything! I bet your kids now would enjoy it too.

I agree. It is cramped. That studio is teeny! But, the location. :cloud9: We will stay there again too!

We tried with all our might to avoid another Ghetto Gas situation, I am VERY happy to report we succeeded!

I do too! There is just something so wonderful about the CR, I can easily see why it's your favorite. I so much enjoyed walking into that Tower every morning!

You guys should return! It's such a neat place. We will definitely be back, but I want to wait a few years and try SeaWorld and Universal first.

I would think that it might be, it's a very tech-heavy area. When we were doing research we found that Melbourne is the highest concentration of engineers outside of Silicon Valley! There are a lot of defense contractors down there.

We're going to start looking for jobs once the new year comes. We're hoping it will only take a few months so we can put our place on the market in spring/early summer instead of the middle of winter  For the same monthly payment here, we can afford another 1000 sq feet in Florida! Taxes are so much lower! Fingers crossed!

We've talked about going back to KSC but, like you, we have other things that we want to check out first. I think Sea World and a swamp tour is on our list for our upcoming trip.

Very cool update! I love that picture of Henry in the car! :rotfl: That's hilarious! Looks like you had a great time at KSC. I'd like to get over there someday. It looks like a really interesting place.

Love the picture of your reflection in the mirror! Very cool!

I can't believe that guy sat there for 20 minutes and wouldn't get up and let you have a turn. :sad2:

There's so many fun things to do in the Orlando area like KSC. I'd like to go to Discovery Cove on our next trip. It's just sooooo expensive! And as much as I want to do things off of Disney property, I do find it hard to peel myself away from the mouse.

Very cool update. I don't think I've ever actually been to KSC... I do remember my whole family driving down to see a launch and then it being cancelled... my dad was SO mad! My mom had made a picnic lunch and we ate in our astrovan with the sliding door open so we could see it launc and 15 min before the launch, they cancelled it... I'm pretty sure that was the first time I'd ever heard my father swear... I was probably 10.

I've never stayed at the Contemporary, only stayed at WL next door, but we've been passed it so many times I've always thought about staying there. Good update! YAY for more and longer updates!

It looks like a lovely outing. I have to get my dad there one day. I know he'd love it.

It makes sense. It would be kinda fun to live in an area populated with techy people....I told Joe about it and he definitely perked up!

I wish you the best with your move and hope it goes smoothly and quickly!!!! Just think how easily you'll be able to visit Mickey. :cloud9:

I really want to hear about a swamp tour! I never have read a report on one!

Discovery Cove IS expensive! I want to try it too though. It's worth it to save for Discovery Cove because you get the entrance to Sea World (or Aquatic or Bush Gardens) then too. Or I think for just a bit more you get Sea World, Aquatica and Bush Gardens. What a veryyyyyy awesome experience too. The whole thing just looks amazing.

You just have to plan an extra long trip so you get enough time with Mickey and don't feel bad leaving him for a day or two.

Oh gosh, that would be AWFUL! I would have been upset too. It takes a lot of effort to make it to a launch, then to just have it cancelled. :headache:

It looks like a lovely outing. I have to get my dad there one day. I know he'd love it.

It is really very fun and interesting! It has enough to appeal to quite a few people - even those with only a slight interest I think would find it worth their time and money.

I have all my iPhone & Photopass pictures in separate albums and I failed to post these in previous updates, so here they are!

Sunrise over Bay Lake. I took this while I was walking into the CR from BLT to catch the Car Care Shuttle.

After returning to DHS to use up FPs. Henry did NOT want to be in the picture!

Later that night at Epcot - again...Henry was being a bit of a pill in regards to taking pictures.

Video: A Ride on Aladdin's Magic Carpets (1 min 38 seconds)

Video: Wishes from the Top of the World Lounge (2 min 16 seconds)

What great pictures of you & Joe! Cute!!

And that sunset?!?! Crazy!!!

Wonderful pictures of you and Joe. I love the sunrise over Bay Lake picture, the sunrises were one of my favorite things about facing the lake.:goodvibes

Those pictures are fantastic! The PP are great and that sunrise... :cloud9: I wish I had woken to that sunrise this morning!

The videos are great too. I got chills watching the fireworks. We saw them from there on this last trip and it was so awesome. I loved it up there.

The pics are great... and the video of Wishes-- I can't believe how still you were able to keep the camera... every video I've ever seen of Wishes is all blurry and shaky. From a former videographer, nice job. No shaky cam!
