If anyone obtained their marriage licence by mail--how did you go about doing it? What web site did you use? How many months before the wedding do you go about doing it?

I used the Brevard county link too. It was a very easy process and much cheaper than the other services that supposedly do it for you.

Since your wedding is in less than 3 months, I'd probably start the process now. You send away for an application first, then they send you the application which you get notarized and send back. Then they send it back to you after it's been approved. Since there are several steps involved, starting now is not a bad idea. Plus it's valid for 60 days, so if you start now it should be finished up at the right time.

Good luck!

Can you tellme where the information about obtaining the license by mail is please? I can't find it.

Thanks.

I am also using Brevard County mail away license. I mailed in the original application on 11/26/07 for my wedding 4/15/08. They started processing it late January. When I received the application to marry to get notarized, there was a spelling error. I called to let them know and they put a new, corrected one in the mail the next day. Now I just have to get it notarized, send in the info with the payment and copies of our ID's. When I spoke to the person at the county clerk's office, he assured me that once he gets the applications he takes them to the judge and gets them signed and out as soon as possible. I can let you know once I mail mine back how long it takes them to get it back to me :)

I wasn't even aware you could get a marriage license by mail so thank you for posting this!!!

Thank you every body---so let me get this straight--even if my wedding is in 3mos, they will start processing the information and make sure that it becomes valid for my 60 day window?

That is correct. They actually tried to sit on mine when I applied in December for an early Feb. wedding, but they put it through when I pointed out that I was leaving for the wedding in late January.

I also went through Brevard County it was very easy just fill out the form and mail it, they will tell you what to do from there.

I just sent out my form yesterday!!! Thank God I found out that you can do it this way.

Hi Again!

I sent out the notarized affidavit on 2/26 and got the marriage license back today 3/7! So I think they are pretty quick at Brevard county with the marriage license by mail... there was one little problem... i mailed everything to them, including the check for $93.50 (trust me, I triple checked to make sure it was all there) and they called me on 3/3 to tell me they didnt get a check with everything! I told them they must have lost it because I KNOW I sent it! He said I could give him a credit card over the phone so it wouldnt slow down processing, which I did because I need to have the license in my hands to know it is ok... I then placed a stop payment on the check ($35 to do that). The next day I had a message that they found my check and were mailing it back  So I did the stop payment for nothing... but I have the marriage license :yay: so we can get married April 15th!

That's terrible :sad2: (about the extra charge, not that you can now get married lol) I would be asking the court house to refund the $35 since they have admitted that the "lost" cheque was in their possession all along.

I know it may be another thing to do but you shouldnt have to bear the cost of their mistake :flower3:

I know I should call them. I got the check back today in the mail with an apology letter which was nice.
