Marriage legal in DC?

Did I hear that right? Just turned on the morning news and caught the tail end of a report that was showing wedding bands designed for "gay weddings" (Huh???) and a wedding planner standing by to answer questions on how to play a "gay wedding" (double huh)?

So, DC made marriage between two consenting adults regardless of gender real? Is that what I'm to understand?

Thanks! I was rushing to get to the airport this morning and only heard part of it.

So then... you can get married in the capitol but it's not recognized by the federal government.

Anyone else see some sort of TOTALLY STUPID factor here?

Considering the capitol up until recently had no representation, it doesn't shock me.
