Marriage Encounter weekend: Anybody ever do one of these? UPDATED

OUCH! Long weekend.

We had private rooms. Private... one person, on a cot that sagged to the floor in the middle. A wool blanket, an AM radio from the 50's and a closet. Four feet from the bed to the closet.

Long? Youbetcha. I probably should get myself to bed now; the alarm clock goes off too early on Monday under the best of circumstances.

We did have a king size bed, even if it was at a seedy Quality Inn. King size bed = fun!

My wife and I were married in 1976. We went to ME before we married. There was only talk about engaged encounter. It was in Montreal, via the Anglican Church of Canada, which left us 5 years later. It's been years since I've seen a window sticker.

it's 48 years for us, so it was not a bad thing.

DH came home a few weeks ago with an invitation to do a weekend thing for married couples and from work no less. NO WAY. We've been married 42 years so we are doing something right. That sounds too forced to me. Too weird and the thought of it makes my skin crawl! DH feels the same.

:crazy2:

I wish I had found this thread a week or two ago. My DH and I got back from a WWME weekend and it was not a good experience. First, we were told to be there an hour before anyone else. Once the presentations started, we were told no getting up to go to the BR, standing up to stretch, asking questions or looking at our phones. No schedule was ever given to us. I guess they were worried that we would be looking at our phones waiting for breaks. They only teach one technique of writing love letters and explaining the strength of your feelings on a 1 to 10 scale and colors. It was not for us. We snuck out early. It was a very odd weekend.
