Mark Madoff suicide

Looks like Bernie didn't think about the consequences of his actions that might affect his own family. I feel badly for Mark and his mother. In my eyes, Bernie is now a murderer along with a scam artist.

Its not a 'mindset' its an illness or such depression or stress that they don't really think there is any other alternative.

If Mark was guilty of helping his father and profiting, I don't have all that much sympathy for him. How many people have suffered and probably killed themselves because of what this man and his accused family members did? Again, IF he was guilty, then I think of it as karma. You get what you give. I know this seems harsh but if you were aware of what was going on and did nothing to stop it, you're just as guilty.

If he was not guilty, than I do have sympathy for him, his son and wife. Guess we'll never know for sure though.

I haven't heard about any involvment, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. Until I hear otherwise, I feel like his son was a victim, as well. Now if someone knows that he was involved, I will probably have a change of heart.

Agreed. People don't just get bored one day and decide to kill themselves. It's usually a result of so much pain and seeing no way out...it's a desperation movie.

I read an article that his wife had petitoned to have her and her kids last name changed due to death threats. I cannot even begin to imagine the stress he was under due to what his father did.

Agreed. People don't just get bored one day and decide to kill themselves. It's usually a result of so much pain and seeing no way out...it's a desperation movie.

The horrifying thing to me is that he did this while home alone with his 2-yr-old son - his wife was on vacation with their other child. I mean, there's despair, and then there's putting your toddler in danger. I have sympathy for one but not the other.

Quality stock...those Madoff's. Killing yourself is one thing, not bothering to consider a two year old or anyone else is not much different the Papa Madoff but in some ways much worse. If that is the truth about his child being present, all sympathy I might have felt has just gone away from him and transferred to his son.

I don't feel sympathy for his mother. His MOTHER has been hindering the investigation by trying to KEEP what her husband stole for herself. She also won't tell where a lot of the wealth is still hidden, even though the police believe she does know.

I remember when it was on the news here, how she was finally ousted from the last of their NYC, multimillion dollar homes, she finally had to walk out of that posh place into a plain car, (plain according to their standards.)

Her own greed is partly responsible for her son's death.

On the one hand, I feel for him. he's a victim of his father. But, really what is it about this family that they do not consider their own children?

Kill yourself, but ensure your child's safety, FIRST. Don't leave email notes.

What if there had been a fire? What if the kid had woken up from a nightmare and decided to look for his father? It is unreal the self-absorption in this family.

things like this make me believe in Karma. Not sure if he was involved iwth the ponzi scheme but I do believe he benefited greatly from it. How ironic that all the money still didnt bring him happiness.
