Marine Corps Marathon - October 26, 2008 (NEW PHOTOS!)

My bib # is 10162. And if someone is tracking me and I don't cross the finish line, send out the search and rescue. :)

We're going to try to be at the expo at 2:00 to meet up with you all. I can't wait to see everyone this weekend!

Steve

Good luck from an MCM alum. I wish I was able to be there with you guys.

Chester

Another former MCMer here - go for it this weekend!!! BEAT OPRAH!!!

Thanks for hooking me up, Howard! :thumbsup2 Now I'll know how all the Stud Muffins are doing. On Sunday. At the race. ;)

Well, just got back from the MCM expo. All you would expect from a big-time race. Lots of freebies, samples (gotta love when they're sampling beer and wine at 10:30AM), race booths, etc.

Kathy picked up a tiara at the Disney booth promoting the Princess half in March and I actually bought some RaceReady shorts and some Injinji socks. Shorts with frilly pockets on the butt and socks with toes. Maybe I should have picked up a tiara!

Cindy, 2 good things about the National Marathon expo in March:
1. It makes you appreciate a "real" expo even more.
2. They had parking so screwed up in March and we made so many loops around RFK and the Armory trying to get into Lot 3 that parking today was a snap.

Everyone enjoy the mini-meet tomorrow. I WISH I could see you all then. Come up with a solid meet-up plan for race morning and let me know (if you dare).

Cindy~ Meeting at or near the Disney Booth (with Tiaras!) sounds like a good plan to me.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Howard

We'll plan to see everyone at the Disney booth at 2pm.:cool1:

Thanks to all the team members wishing us luck. Now if someone could just wish me a bike...

This race is in the bag. It was wonderful seeing everyone and spending some quality time catching up, eating a meal and/or snuggling with a super handsome 3 month old. Carter is precious! He has officially had his first squeezy hug and kiss from Uncle Howard. He is no worse for wear (Carter, not Howard).

What a super nice bunch of people to know and call friends! Matt, Cindy, M'Lisse, Denny, Kathy, Mike, Stephen, Krista and Carter. Stephen, it was also great to meet your sister Brenda. She is really sweet.

Congratulations to Mike, Stephen, and Denny in the Marathon and to Cindy and Matt in the 10K!!

My official race time, which is now accurate, had me beating my PR by 31 minutes, 4 seconds. My new PR is now 4:10:39 with an overall pace of 9:27.

:grouphug:

Howard - It was my highlight of the event getting to spend some extended time with you and Cam.

I only wish we would have been so fortunate with everyone else that was here this weekend.

Congratulations to everyone on great races. I look forward to hearing more about them in the coming days.

Mike~ We were fortunate to spend time with Denny & M'Lisse at dinner yesterday and with you and Kathy tonight. Different (but delicious) fare, but wonderful company.

We spent some time at the Expo talking with Stephen, Krista, Carter and Brenda. However, that time was all too short. It was great to see everyone pre-race and walk to the start with you and Stephen. I saw Krista, Carter and Brenda once or twice on the course. I also saw the lovey Scream Teamers where you did (18 & 20).

Howard

You guys did awesome!!!! Glad to hear you all had a great time and got to see some other WISHers!

Hi! Thanks!

Cam will be posting some photos from the race here tonight for us! :cool1:

Enjoy the afterglow... or recovery... whichever is most appropriate.

Congratulations Howard. I am thinking about making this race my first full marathon next fall. It looks like a great course and the scenes just can't be beat.

Frank~

It is a course that is one of the toughest I've run. The (many) hills early on and the final push to the finish are pretty tough. I think you would enjoy the challenge though. After all this isn't the Lollipop Guild Marathon, its the Marine Corps Marathon!

I may run this one again with a friend (Honeibee's DH - Charlie, yes the one I refer to in my sig below).

Good luck in your races ahead.

Howard
