Mardi Gras Float Ride with kids?

Has anyone ridden the Mardi Gras floats with kids (DDs 12 & 15)? They’ve seen plenty of people drinking (we boat and camp, they’ve seen some parties - not necessarily us).

If it’s a complete sloppy drunk thing, they probably wouldn’t enjoy it. One or two mildly tipsy people acting goofy/interacting with them would likely be laughed about and quoted for years to come.

If it helps, I have the dinner package booked on 3/29. We are there for five full days with Express passes, so we aren’t really missing out on other evening experiences for it.

I’ve ridden a float once with my DD last year, who at the time had just turned 18 and we did not witness anyone drunk let alone sloppy drunk.

ETA: it was an amazing experience! Super fun!

No one was obnoxious or drunk in ours. Everyone was sure happy and having fun.

There were kids if I remember?

Its great fun!

We were thinking of doing this but weren’t sure about ADA accommodations if they had any. My older daughter wouldn’t be able to stand for 45 minutes, do they have any float spots where you can sit? She does not use a wheelchair as she can walk and stand just not for long periods of time. She is 9 but is the size of most 7 year olds so we can still use the big city mini double stroller for her and her younger sister. Both meet the 48” height requirement.

My mom will likely need to sit - it says on the Universal site to call at least 48 hrs in advance.
  • Riders with a disability may request an accommodation at least 48 hours prior to your float reservation. Standard manual wheelchairs can be accommodated. Riders may transfer from other mobility devices into a standard wheelchair that is provided after check-in. For additional details, please contact Guest Services at 407-224-4233.

Thank you all! Very helpful! I’m sticking with it! Only DD15 knows about it. My mom & sister are going to be surprised!

Have fun, just remember Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday/Carnival in general is the last adult blowout before Lent. It’s now past but, U keeps the party nicely rolling for guests

The U MGs we’ve observed have happy revelers. Assume most realize they’d get the boot if they were offensive or a danger to themselves or others.

There’s always a few in every crowd who take things a bit too far yet, much doubt majority would deliberately act up while on a parade float/under close watch of crowd and U employees & security

Thanks we will look into that!

We haven't been on the float yet (booked for April) but we were at the parade last week and didn't seen anyone sloppy drunk at all. Obviously people were drinking but it was really more family friendly than anything. We hadn't been before but it was much better than I had expected. My 13 year old and I had a blast catching beads. We waited across from the five and dime store (in that area) and it wasn't too crowded.
