Marching Our Way to a Healthy Lifestyle ~ March 2016 WISH Challenge

@5xdisneyfans that picture is too adorable!!

Check in for this week

Down 3.5 pounds. I lost the 1.5 pounds I'd gained plus another 2! Much better than I was anticipating. That puts me at 54% for the month already. I'm very happy for a new week as this one didn't involve a ton of tracking. Clearly I still managed to do okay though.

I've been to MNSSHP a few times. One year we were pirates, one year my DH and I dressed up as Sulley and Mike. This last one we went as the Incredibles. That was in Oct of 2014image.jpeg

I don't worry lol - its a candy holiday so we just go with it.

Open the quote to see my other answers an pics - oops.

Pictures are GREAT!!!! I LOVE good pictures with characters!! You and DD are totally adorable as princesses!.............P

Hello everyone!

After a miserable day yesterday I am finally starting to feel much improved! And had a successful day so far. Made a meal plan for the week and went shopping for it. I even picked out two new recipes from a vegetarian cookbook that a friend lend to me, put them through the calorie counter tool and figured out that both a doable within my calorie limits. One of them is a corn chowder that I have made before, the other is a greek eggplant dish that will be served over couscous. Will try to post them to the recipe thread next week.

Then I took care of updating my router and finally setting up the answering machine that is in the router, so I have a working answering machine now. The great thing is that it will send me an email with the message as an audio file when I get a message. Am very excited about this!! Not that I get a lot of messages on my phone anyway, but still!

I am also very well on track with my calories for the day. And I am going to head into town now for some coffee to collect some more steps!

Having trouble making any step progress today. Kind of chilly out (okay... very chilly!), so I opted for the TM.... and I'm having a big dose of adult-onset ADD today and I absolutely CANNOT make myself stay ON the TM!! I hopped on with a Netflix movie going.... didn't get into it.... so I put on a Harry Potter movie.... cannot hear it well enough to stay with it (my TV has a crappy speaker and doesn't always go loud enough to be heard over the TM noise), so I put on a Mythbusters (for some reason that plays louder than a DVD).... and just COULD NOT make myself stay in front of it. I came down to do laundry instead! Then got distracted with stupid Facebook. What is up with me today? I'm jumping around here from one thing to another.... made dinner and prepped veggies for tomorrow's stew, then did more laundry, then made beds, and more laundry.... so I've stayed BUSY.... but jumping from task to task here! Grrrrr. Maybe I need to pull out a Wii game.... at least I will move!.................P

Super quiet Saturday here I see! Hope you all are enjoying life! I will say an early g'night and be back tomorrow to say hello! .............P

Checking in I'm at 13.63% so far - am doing ok but need to get organised as I think I definitely need some food planning to help with my health. Off to the Doctors tomorrow to follow up after last week - I found out late Friday that what I thought was a bit was actually a small shingles outbreak - meaning my immune system is down - now to find out why that may be..... You get this if you have had chicken pox as a kid and you have stress, lowered immune system etc as an adult. I've never had it before and I don't want it to get any worse! Fingers crossed its maybe just low iron, stress etc causing it and not some other nastier reason for a lowered immune system.

As someone who as had shingles I don't believe it has anything to do with stress. I got it after ds2 went to college. Everyone said it was because of this. I was not stressed at all. He was where he wanted to be and was very active and very happy to be there. I have been in much more stressful periods in my life. Just take it slow and do what the Dr. Says. Good luck. I was out of work for 2 weeks.

Having a little WOOHOO Saturday over here!

Today's FroYo 5K run (yes, a run based upon FroYo at the finish line -- you have to do it!) was a great race. Despite the craziness of strollers in the 9 minute mile corrals (!?) and a huge hill for .5 miles (surprise, it's marketed as a flat fast course!?), i GOT A PR ON MY RACE! :D

Time: 41:45, about 90 seconds off my last 5K race time on an actual flat and fast course and nearly 3 minutes off my last RNR 5K race in Arizona.

So awesome! So so so awesome!!! Not to mention that was a cool medal.

I myself am not much of a dress-up kind of gal, but this past Halloween my daughters both dressed up for Halloween in Disney fashion! Oldest DD was away at college, so I didn't even get to see her as Mary Poppins in person, but here are their costumes. My middle DD is the one dressed as Buzz with her friend Woody. I thought they all looked so cute!

I love all the costumes! Especially that Buzz lightyear tutu ... it's so cute!

No pictures from the Boo To You parade this past trip, but here are a couple of Pirate pictures, plus the Hocus Pocus stage show and general MNSSHP-ness.

I love the pictures!!
And I knew you'd love this theme :)

We're heading off to Easter Egg Hunt tonight at Disneyland -- just the Disneyland map tonight. Staying away from California Adventure because the new Carsland attraction is doing a soft opening tonight.

Nice end to a craptastic week. :)

Disneyland is a nice end to any week. I can't wait to hear about how it went ... I hope you got a fun prize!

I don't worry lol - its a candy holiday so we just go with it.

That tends to be my view, too. Maybe not the best idea, but ... sometimes it's easier than feeling terrible about it.
Also, I love all of your pictures!!

Yay for being down more than expected! That's always an awesome thing!

This last one we went as the Incredibles. That was in Oct of 2014

I love this! (I'm a big Incredibles fan, so I'm always excited to see people dress up as the Incredibles)

10% of my goal. Still trying to sort out all the crap that was dumped on me the other day. Sorry for being so quite.

Yay for making progress towards your goal despite the crappy week. I hope things start to get a little better, and we're happy you're stopping by to check in occasionally, even if you're not chatting much.

And my dad has that thing at work where his messages go to his email. I think he finds it really helpful.

I have those ADD moments sometimes ... sometimes you just have to scrap the plan and do whatever you can. Any movement is better than nothing, even if it's not what you had hoped/planned to do!

As of today I am at 14.4k/60k for this months goal. 24%

Yay! Awesome progress!

Sorry to hear about the shingles, and I hope it's not something too bad that's causing your immune system to be down.

YAY!!!! I'm so incredibly excited for you!!!

Please add me to the challenge. I am hoping to lose 5 pounds this month.

I will have to go back and read from the beginning so I can be up to speed. Good luck everyone!

:welcome:
I'm glad you're joining us this month and I hope being here helps you make reach your goal!
Feel free to introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about your goal and your plan to get there when you get a chance!

Okay ... me. Nothing exciting going on, other than that I want ice cream (I'm trying to stay away from it, though). It's been a slow day, but I've been a little groggy for most of it. Nothing else exciting going on.
Tomorrow I'm planning to do my first ever 9 mile run. I tried a few weeks ago, but had to cut it short because I overslept and was running late, and then ended up having a really crappy run. So I'm pretty much a nervous wreck. I also have to figure out what to wear, since none of my running skirts seem to fit me anymore (and we're talking skirts that fit fine 4-5 weeks ago) and I want something comfortable for that long of a run. I know, I have such major problems in my life.

Anyway, I know I still haven't posted my DisneyBound pictures, so I'll be back with those later tonight.

Hi Everyone!

Checking in! Love all the costumes. I once dressed as Snow White, but it was before digital cameras and I don't have a picture. I actually really liked that costume, too!

I've never been to Disney at Halloween. I've only been at two times a year - Spring Break (once) and Summer (mostly). But I've love to go someday! We usually go to Disney for a couple of days and then take a cruise out of FL somewhere to get a little more bang for our airfare buck and we just can't do that during the school year.

This week I lost 3.8 lbs. That's awesome for the challenge, but I'm not thrilled with myself with how I got there. I had lunchtime appointments three times this week and instead of fitting in a healthy lunch, I just skipped it. I did have a snack at around 3pm a couple of days, but I should have pre-planned and worked in lunch. As a result of skipping lunch, my calories were abnormally low - hence the weightloss. It's not healthy long term, so while I'm thrilled with the weightloss (because it put be over 75lbs lost total), my excitement is tempered with how i got there.

But that's OK - tomorrow starts a new week.

As a Saturday woohoo - I manage an academic creative problem solving team for my daughter and they had their regional competition today and came in 1st place! On to State on 4/16/16!

For the challenge, I'm at 38% for the month.

@SarahDisney you are doing an amazing job replying to all of us! Thank you so much!! I know you'll do amazing on that 9 miler you have planned for tomorrow.
@SarahDisney good luck tomorrow!

Thanks, guys!

With Halloween as our topic for this weekend, let’s talk costumes! Have you ever worn a Disney-themed Halloween costume? Please share pictures (if you have them)!
Have you ever worn a Disney-themed outfit for a different event? Do you wear Disney-themed clothing or DisneyBounds when you go to the parks?

So ... I don't celebrate Halloween at all, so I've never dressed up. I did once dress up as Mickey Mouse for a friend's costume party (I was probably 13 or 14). I don't have any pictures, but I still have the shorts I wore.

About a year and a half ago I really got into the DisneyBound thing, so I do have some DisneyBound pictures from park trips. I don't get as into it as some people, so they may not be instantly recognizable, but I still have fun with it.
A not-great Goofy:

Ariel: (I'm not looking at the camera in this one)

Anna's Coronation Dress: (my sister is Sorcerer Mickey)

Anna (Race Outfit for the Frozen 5K):

Dory:
Day%204%20061.jpg

By our last trip I had kinda given up on the DisneyBound thing (I ran out of easy ideas and didn't want to go shopping), so I did more character-inspired touches, like wearing the necklace I had made for the Anna outfit one day, or wearing a headband I made inspired by Dumbo ... or wearing one of my many (okay, two) Minnie Mouse shirts. I did do DisneyBounds for the race outfits, though.
5K - Nemo:

10K - Dumbo:

If it looks wet in this picture ... that's because it was. Running a 10K in the rain is not always so much fun (although it was still some fun because ... Disney).

BONUS: How do you make sure to stick to healthy eating on candy-centric holidays such as Halloween?

Whenever there's chocolate, I eat it all and then try not to feel bad about it.
I love chocolate, and I will never give up chocolate. I just try not too have too much at once, and then I try not to beat myself up when I do have more than planned.
It doesn't always work.

I have been in much more stressful periods in my life.

I thought this a little too - I have had way more stressful times than I am now and have never had it before. So hopefully I'll be all good again soon.

Tomorrow I'm planning to do my first ever 9 mile run

Good luck - I always admire the effort you guys put into running as I am so not a runner.

I just got back from my son's friend's 12th birthday - I had a beer and a piece of very naughty chocolate cake - his friend went sky diving for his 12th birthday, it was pretty cool to watch, so brave, I would never do it. But now my son wants to - I said when you are an adult and I can't control it anymore lol.
