For all of you March breakers going down to Florida, the Shuttle Atlantis is (tentatively) scheduled to launch on Friday, March 16 from the Kennedy Space Center. It's something you might want to plan in your trips, if that's your sort of thing. :)

Unfortunately, we'll miss out on this opportunity as we'll be there from March 7-14 (my sister's family is coming down from Toronto), but we're thinking of visiting the Kennedy Space Center anyway. We could be lucky enough to see the Shuttle getting ready for its upcoming mission. That would be pretty cool in and of itself.

We will miss the launch by one day. We will be in Daytona Beach on March 13,14,15.

We did see a shuttle land once....awesome sonic BOOM! S

Wow!! That is awsome!

I hope that we can make it and I am going to book one more night in Disney to try and be there on the 15th.

If it doesn't go, I can always cancel the extra night!

Thanks so much for the heads up!

Thanks for the information. We had planned to visit Kenney on March 15th. I'm not sure if we should change our plans because of restricted access or being really busy with vistors. Has anyone been there the day before a shuttle launch? Of course the date may change but just wondering if anyone has the inside scoop of what it is like at Kennedy leading up to a shuttle launch.

Thanks,

Cygnus

Currently it is scheduled for 6:20 am. If you follow the link in the OPs email it takes you to the kennedy space centre site with the latest information.
