March 28, 2015 Fantasy Eastern Caribbean 7-Night Cruise

Hey Ya'll! Just booked our first Disney Cruise and we are so excited! It'll be me, my husband and 8 year old daughter. Looking forward to learning everything we need to know about Disney cruising and already planning our FE stash. :)

New to the forum too so I have a lot of learning to do!

This is our 2nd Disney cruise, but 1st 7 day. We did not know about FEs on our 1st trip and are loving the things we have found online. We have 8 year old B/G twins and the whole family is very excited. I am interested in finding a FE group to join. Any helpful hints are welcome :)

We did the Western Caribbean on the Fantasy last year (2014) for Spring Break and had such a wonderful time, that we are sailing the Fantasy again (Eastern Caribbean) for Spring Break 2015. Traveling with my 2 daughters, 14 and 8. Sorry I don't speak Disney language, but I guess I'll learn. Shall I say, DD14 and DD8?? I know that my girls would love to meet some others their age before sailing. WE CAN"T WAIT!!!!:cool1:

Just booked this for my daughter (it's her school break ... she's a second grade school teacher in Las Vegas) and myself (I live in Florida and work at WDW). It's her first Fantasy cruise. She's been on the Magic twice. It's my 20th Disney cruise and 7th Fantasy cruise. Most of my cruises have been on the Magic. This will be our second mother/daughter cruise with no men.

I've been chatting with a friend about our cruise, trying to choose some shore excursions.

Does anyone have any advice about Disney's offerings in San Juan?

I've never been there before. I would kind of like to see some of the city. I know may kids are going to want to zipline or snorkel or surf. Is there time to do an activity like that and still have time to look around a little?

Posts have been removed from a number of Cruise Meets threads including this one.

PLEASE review the Cruise Meet Policy regarding Cruise Meet and Fish Extender programs. - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3353477

Links to Cruise Meet discussion/Fish Extenders other than those on the DIS may not be posted or offered by any other means (PM, email, "search" directions).

Cruise Meet threads are doing just fine still managing meet and FE discussions right here on the DIS as they have since FE began (also here on the DIS).

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin with child ages for age appropriate gift giving. Other information you would like to share such as names, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM.

Hi,
I am interested in joining a fish extender group.

Disney Fantasy March 28, 2015

Mom and 8 year old girl.

I would appreciate any help.

I'm hoping this is the forum for March 28, 2015, Fantasy, Eastern Caribbean? We have never before cruised and I was told to look for a forum for our cruise date. Barely found this one, so I am not even sure I'm in the right place now? I was wondering about fish extenders group... 14 of us in the group, kids 10,8,8,8,6,5, and 4. Is anyone with experience willing to take the lead on the extenders? Thanks. :-) DD means? DS means? DH? I don't know Disney speak... and to the woman with the 2nd grade teacher daughter in Vegas? Tell her we should trade notes... lol I teach 2nd grade in Canada.
:)

Since we are here without children, you will find us up at the adult pool area most of the time. She would love to talk to you and see the differences between Vegas and Canada. Do you teach Common Core?

I believe Disney talk means the following: DD = Disney Daughter; DS = Disney Son; DH = Disney Husband.

I think DD, DS, DH is message board shorthand for:

DD = Dear Daughter
DS = Dear Son
DH = Dear Husband
DW = Dear Wife

FE = is not standard message board speak. It stands for Fish Extender.

Fish extenders are the metal clips outside every cruise cabin. In the begin, they were, indeed, fish, but now there are different ones. The way of referencing them is still Fish extender though. Many people have little hanging pockets that they put up on their fish extenders. In this way, other passengers can leave notes or gifts. There is one FE group set up for this cruise already but it's now closed. It seems like there are plenty more people interested in starting another one.

As part of a group, you exchange information like
cabin number
a list of cabin occupants
ages of the chidren

Then each family makes gifts (or buys gifts) for the other members of the group. Some do gifts just for the kids, some do a family gift. At some point during the cruise, you deliver your gifts to the other cabins.

It's lots of fun. We did a very informal one on our last cruise. Literally set it up the week before. But it was still tons of fun and the kids enjoyed finding little prizes when they came back to the cabin.

If you do a search on Fish Extenders, there are descriptions out there.

If one of you is ambitious, just put the word out that you'll keep the list of participants. That's really all you have to do. You decide how many people you want to allow in the group. (Keep it manageable because that's alot of running around looking for cabins) When you collect the members, just send the info out to everyone and let them come up with their own little gifts.

We are surprising our three little princesses (7, 5, 3) with a spring break Disney Cruise! They will open a box on Christmas morning containing a countdown chain, DCL t shirts, and some type of paper/picture to explain it. Thinking about participating in the FEE, but I'm so new to this whole thing-I need some guidance!!! Thanks in advance for any tips/tricks anyone wants to share!!

Beyond excited for memories that will last a lifetime!

What a great surprise!

We are on the cruise too. 1st time cruisers, but have heard great things about DCL from friends. Feel a little guilty about leaving our 4 kids at home but we are taking cruise to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday, which is the day before we sail, and our 20th anniversary, which is the day after we return. Sort of the honeymoon we never had. :wave2:

Hello!

We are looking to join a fish extenders group for this cruise as well! This is our 4th Disney cruise, but the first time on the Fantasy and first time trying out the fish extenders too!

We are really looking forward to it! We are cruising with our son (7) and daughter (10).

Thanks!!
Elizabeth

We were on the same cruise last year and booked while on the boat for this spring break. Our DD will be 8 by the time of the cruise I'm sure she would love to meet a new friend.

I'm also looking forward to jointing a FE. While on the boot we were so unaware of everything and when we figured it all out felt like we missed out on some fun. If anyone starts an FE please let me know.

It is our first Disney cruise but we are also looking to join a fish extenders group! Let me know if there is another FE group open, a previous post stated one group had already closed. :(
