March 23, 2013 FANTASY - The Final Inaugural Cruise of the Disney Fantasy

Happened to look online last night. Looks like only 1 category of room is left (5). We have a Cat 5 or 6 (can't keep the new categories & their letters straight). Anyway, our near $3500 reservation is now above $6000!!!

Just one of many reasons I never go during this time of year!

Sounds like some people got great prices for this cruise. We are travelling on points (just cash for DD), but I did price it out if cash for all 3 of us for cat 5A would have been around $8K (not including airfare)! Guess early bird gets the worm!

I believe our cruise is now sold out. Wow. I am curious how a full ship will differ from our 5 night Dream cruise thus summer that had VGT rates.

Sold out is a numbers thing on DCL's part. Cabins will probably open up between now and then. That happened on the MV. I know that capacity was below what the normal load is guest wise. We have cruised with the Magic and Wonder being full on 7-night cruises. Never really had an issue except a little bit on the 2008 EBPC cruise.

I have received a FB request from Heather M and Kathy G. Please pm me or send an email to the address linked in the first post with your information. Thanks!

ETA: No information received. Both denied.

Just got a FB request from Elizabeth O. Have not received a pm or yahoo email with any information.

Hi there!! I'm Kim... I hope it's not too late to join this group. My husband (Gary) and our 13 year old son (Noah) will be on this cruise!! Also joining (but they are not Disers :sad2:) are my Niece, her husband, their son and my Brother and Sister-in-law. Wooo Hoooo!! We are so very excited!!

We live in St. Petersburg, FL, are DVC members and this will be our first cruise as a family. Our 1 year wedding anniversary is tomorrow. :cheer2:

We just returned from Disney's Vero Beach Resort where my husband and I had a wonderful, relaxing weekend.

Well, off to read all the posts and try to catch up!!

:welcome: to the crew!
Thanks Lisa... we are so excited!! We originally were on the Spring Break 2012 cruise but my family wanted to join us and needed more time to save and pay for theirs! We switched and with that came the Fantasy!!

Living so close to WDW (St. Petersburg) we go quite often. If anyone needs something to be picked up from one of the gift shops... I can do it!! Our final trip to WDW before the cruise will be the weekend of Feb. 14th... My son has a school field trip :teacher: to work with Disney performers and then we are staying for a long weekend.

I am going to attempt to make my own FE... any helpful threads out there that anyone knows of?
:confused3

There are a few FE 101 threads linked in the FAQ thread at the top of the main forum. It is basically a panel about 8-10" wide with pockets for goodies.

I am trying to make sure that everyone who has signed up for the FE on the 3/23/13 cruise has been added to the contact list of the yahoo email account I am using to track requests and send out the list. I just sent out an email to everyone on that contact list. If you have signed up and do not receive an email from the fantasyspringbreak2013cruisers@yahoo.com, please send me an email so that I can check on that.

Right now there are 25 families on the list. That breaks down to 96 people, with 52 adults and 44 kids age 18 and under.

Remember that you are free to decide if you will be doing a family gift or individual lists. You don't need to let me know what you will be doing. :) A few people have asked if they could participate in a smaller group. In December, I will send out an email asking who would like to do that. Everyone else will remain with the larger group. This gives those who want to keep it small for space reasons the chance to do so, while those who enjoy what a larger group brings to the FE can still do the same.

Hello,
My husband and three children are going on this cruise!! Yippee! Here's my question. My daughter will be 11. Should I have her in the preteen/teen club or the children's club? She has a 9 year old brother that is VERY social that she usually leans on to meet new people, but then they separate and do their own thing. She has some anxiety of going to a club without her brother, but I think she may like the older club better! Thoughts??

It honestly depends on your child, though it sounds like she would feel more comfortable with her brother in the lab. She will not be the only 11 yo there. In fact, there will be some 12 yos there as well. Both of your kids can get to know other kids on the cruise prior though. Look at the list in the first post and you will see who has kids the same age. You can pm them by their DIS user name and find out if their child will be going to the lab or club. Better yet...once you think she has decided, just post here and ask anyone to pm you if their child will be in the same club that your DD decides to participate in. :)

BTW

:welcome: to the group!

Has anyone her ever rented a car, and shuttled into the port? Any of the rental cars shuttles better than others?

We booked this cruise it will be our 7th. It's me, DH, and 2 DD ages 10 & 15.

This will be our first cruise on Fantasy. We went on Magic last Spring Break for Eastern Caribbean.

SUPER EXCITED!!!!!

Has anyone her ever rented a car, and shuttled into the port? Any of the rental cars shuttles better than others?

We rented cars and shuttled on our last 3 cruises. No problems with any company, but use one that has an actual building near the port. Some companies work out of hotels or are several miles away. I always looked for the closest one as the shuttle would be able to make more runs.

Allowing for time, I would drop the family and luggage off at the port, then drive the car to the rental facility and take the shuttle back. That way there is only one person trying to get on the shuttle and no bags, so no problems with room on the shuttle.

This time we are using a limo service as there are 6 of us and the cost to rent a car large enough is more than the limo, as they have a fixed cost depending on the size of the vehicle. And we are saving tons over the Disney Bus.

Thank you for the tips. My husband traded his SUV for a new car this year, so we do not have enough room for four of us plus luggage.

I have read that some people rent a car one way to/from the port and have a taxi take them to/from the Rental company location. It saves some time!!
