March 16, 2013 - 5 Night Western Caribbean - Disney Wonder

We don't have a lot to say yet, do we?:confused3 We're less than 110 days away from our cruise, so this place ought to be filling up with posts before too long! We are now up to 40 people in our group. We had a family of five add on last week, so this should be interesting. This is officially the largest group that's sailed with us so far.:cool1:

I'm trying to decide if I want to pay my cruise off so I can start making reservations on Dec. 1st, or if I want to hold off. My mom can book with a military rate, and it would save us a ton of money, but we have no idea if they'll release military rates for our sailing. It looks as if they might, but who knows when they'll do it if they do???

There really isn't anything we're just anxious to book anyhow, so I'll probably wait it out and pay the cruise off at the last minute just in case those rates come out!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Going on our first cruise this March... we're all looking forward to a great time. Just putting feelers out for anybody else traveling with only 1 child. We have only 1 as well and thought maybe if anybody else was traveling with only 1 it'd be a good chance for the kids to meet somebody new from someplace new! Ours will be 13 by the time the cruise rolls around, he's fairly athletic (baseball and basketball)

I'm sure there are going to be plenty of kiddos on board for them to meet and have fun with. :)

Hi all! I am finally getting around to finding the cruise meet thread. My family is very excited to set sail soon! It will be me, my DH, DD (10), and DD (5). We are flying into Miami on that Friday and plan to take a taxi from our hotel to the port (I used airline miles to book the hotel which doesn't offer any transfers.) After the cruise, we will be renting a car and driving up to Disney World for a few days. This will be our third DCL cruise!

Small world! We are also in NWA and are big Razorback fans!!

Welcome to the thread!

If you are on Facebook, please click (or copy/paste) the link below. I've started a group specifically for our cruise. You have to be added by an admin, which I am one of two. :)

This is our first cruise and it will be myself, my DD (15, at the time of cruise) and her friend (14 at the time). We are all very excited!

:cool1:

Welcome to our fellow cruisers! I can't believe how fast this trip is approaching us, but I'm totally excited about it. My mom just had ankle replacement, so I've been really busy helping her and trying to be prepared for Christmas. She is cruising with us, so we just want her to be better by March! We still haven't officially decided on excursions yet. We have 40 people sailing with us and can't decide if we just want to do our own thing or try to book some things together. We've done the dune buggies in Cozumel and loved it! We were planning to all do that but then realized that the kids have to be 8, and we have kids going with us that are younger than that. We are all getting together for a pre-cruise party, so we will decide then. Take care and let the countdown begin!

Speaking of excursions, I think we are going to do the Extreme Getaway Package excursion (4-in-1) at Castaway Cay and the Cozumel Beach Break. Both of these seem to fit nicely within our budget.

We leave OKC at 625p on Thursday March 14th and arrive in Miami at 1235a (yawn) on the 15th, so we are going to have one full day in Miami and will probably spend some time at the Dolphin Mall as our hotel is nearby. We'll then catch a shuttle back to the airport on Saturday morning so we can board the DME and head to the PoM!!!

I can't believe we are only 85 days away!

We just added another family, so we are up to 44 in our group. We are so excited! Is it March yet? Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

I wanted to post this question here because my DD is on our FB group and if I'm able to do what I'm about to ask, I want it to be a surprise.

I'd like to book a surprise spa day for her and her friend (as long as it's not an outrageous amount of $$$), but am not sure of the minimum age requirements.

Any thoughts???

Hi! There will be very little that your daughter could do. I only know this because my daughter (who will be 18 in April) cannot wait to turn 18 so she can actually do the spa. We were able to book her on something the last time we sailed, but if I remember correctly, it was just a hair appointment with shoulder massage. It wasn't a major spa treatment like she really wants to do though. :confused3 It's really too bad they don't offer something for the younger ones on the cruise. Hope this helps.

Susan

Thanks Susan. It is a bummer that they don't do that for the teens. I know on the Fantasy (or maybe the Dream...or both) they have a spa for teens.

Oh well....I haven't even mentioned anything to her so there's no disappointment.

They could have added teen spa appointments to the Wonder by now, so you might not want to give up on the idea. Maybe you should post it on the regular threads to see if someone responds. It's been a while since we've cruised Disney, so maybe they do offer it now.:confused3 Let us know what you find out.

:cool1:Welcome! So glad to have you joining us! I still can't believe how few DISers there seems to be on this cruise! We have a pretty small group, but maybe that means we'll have the ship to ourselves.:confused3 We have 44 people sailing with us, so we'll take up a small portion of the ship. LOL!

Going to WDW for a couple of days beforehand will be fun! I kind of wish I had done that, but I didn't want to spend my DVC points, and I didn't want to fork out more money. I'll likely get to Miami and wish we had booked Disney World though. It always pains me to sail out of Port Canaveral and not at least visit WDW for a day. I'm hoping that being all the way in Miami, I won't think about it.:rotfl:

Now we just have to hope that March gets here quickly!

Hi and welcome! We are also doing WDW before the cruise. My DH ended up signing up for a conference at the CR the 12-14, so we ended up deciding to make it a family affair and all 5 of us will be in Orlando the 11-15th. We are driving from Orlando to Miami the morning of the 16th. How are you guys getting to Miami? We were originally slated to spend a couple of days in Miami but just switched to Orlando about 2 weeks ago, so now I feel like I'm way behind on the WDW planning and am frantically trying to catch up!

Hi, we just booked the March 16th cruise on the wonder out of Miami. Myself (Cori) My DH, MIL, Son (3), Son (2) We are very excited! My husband and his mom went on a disney cruise years ago, but this will be the first time for myself and our kids. Any tips for traveling with younger kids would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the group! My kids are teenagers, so maybe someone else will give you some advice on littler ones. I do know they will love it though!!
