March '11 TR: My 21 + 5 Years Birthday At WDW!! (HOME SWEET HOME) 6/24

Cute envelops

Those towels are adorable. That was nice of your mom to get you some more :goodvibes

Like the PP poster said, even if you do not think you will take the job, still go for practice.

Good luck in whatever you decide :goodvibes

Thanks!!

Hey Megan, sorry I've been MIA, i've missed several of your updates!

So sorry to hear about the school closing, what a complete shocker!!! Hopefully you can get some interviews lined up for FL and then just move on down, get a nice job and be all set. I'll keep you in my prayers and send some pixie dust your way for good luck!!!

loved all your updates- what great seats at Coral Reef! so did you and mom go crazy in mousegears? I love shopping in there. in fact, i think i will send DH and DS off to play in the water fountain while i shop this time. I always hate them having to wait on me in the store, i feel rushed!

anyhow- wishing all good things for you and keep in mind your trip isn't that far away (which also means my mountain trip isn't either!):rotfl:;)

Thanks!! We love mousegears..it's my favorite park store because it's not as crazy as MK but not chopped up like AK and DHS stores!

I can totally relate to you and the pressure from your Dad. My dad always influenced my decisions. It wasn't until I was 18 or 19 before I started arguing him on it. You're absolutely right: it's your life, your decision. He can certainly give you his opinion but he can never decide for you. Nobody can! I hope whatever direction you take, it's the right one for you :goodvibes

Great buys! You make me want to go shopping :yay:

Thanks! It will feel good to go my own way!

Love the Mouskeeping envelopes! I can't wait to make mine, I'm going to try to do them all with a Halloween/Fall theme this year, should be fun!

I love those towel clips, I saw them in Bed Bath and Beyond the other day and I was so tempted to get some! Maybe closer to my trip! :confused3

They are very useful for the pool chairs :) Some lil kid was playing with mine while I had gone potty and I came back and they were on the ground under my chair

I love those towels. I'll have to see if our store has them. It would be nice to freshen up my fingertip towels I have in our bath with some nice summery ones. I hadn't seen the towel clips - those are cool:thumbsup2 Where did you get them? Also, I love The Complete WDW book. I love details and it certainly is full of them. I have copied the FastPass page for many of my coworkers when they are heading to WDW. I hear so many horror stories of people not using FP or not knowing how, I want to make sure they know how they work. I love the Mousekeeping envelopes. I really hope we get back there next June - I've been jotting down notes at work in the back of my daytimer and I'll have to make sure I make a reminder for the envelopes.
Take care:)
Amy
btw - heading to Kings Island next Tuesday. My DD's middle school is going and she likes me to go. Not that I get to hang out with her (lol) - she just likes the thoughts of me being there. I take my DS who is best buddies with one of the teachers DS - so they have a blast riding together.

How fun!! The family that I'll be a nanny for have gold passes for KI as do I so I'll probably be taking the kids next week!

Sounds like such a fun night at MK! I love to ride the train! :goodvibes

Those Mousekeeping thank yous are really creative!

Thanks!!!

Good luck with your interview, even if you don't accept a position. Atleast it's good practice! The advice I always get is to "go deep" in your answers and be specific. But I still always get nervous for interviews.

I love how you have a Disney box for your trips. I wish I had one (or atleast knew for sure when I was going back...).

Yay for watching Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince!

Thanks!!!!! I'm glad I had the two interviews here so that way I know a little bit what to expect. I'm going to go back over my teaching binder and notes to brush up a little more!

I have been behind! Wow! That is a short notice for staff and parents for a school. I think it is perfect for you though...it is opening a new door for you... It is wonderful that your teaching certificate has been approved.

Adorable envelopes.

Keep your dad's motivation in mind when he "tells" you what to do. My dad always just wanted what was best for me. I did always call and ask what he thought too. Appreciate it even if it is annoying at times.

I got a little behind this week, but I do love catching up while I'm having my coffee on the weekend mornings!

Your Mousekeeping envelopes are great! I love them all! What a great way to say thank you to wonderful staff!

Great purchases too! I know we just went to the states last week but I can't wait for July when my BFF take our trip!

How was graduation? Did you have your interviews or are they next week?

MK EMH!!!!

LIFE UPDATE...

Hi Dis Friends!!!

HAPPY JUNE!!!

I can't believe I'm 12 days away from my trip!

I was going to update on the PTR but I came under the weather on Thurs and caved, paid my $30, and went to see my doctor. I have a sinus infection which has put a slight damper on the weekend but I'm going to make the best of it and rest!

A lot of you were wondering about the job situation/graudation. Graduation went well. I can't post pics bc the kids are in them but it was a nice time, minimal tears, and I was given a book make by Apple that is a "scrapbook/coffee table book" of pics throughout the year..it's very nice!

I interviewed at two schools, was offered school age at one and pre-K at the other but declined both since I know I'm moving in July. I'm going to Nanny for a family (2 kids) next week and Mon-Wed the following week since they are undecided on their child care situation and are leaving for vacation the same day as us so I'll be making around $560 extra that I wouldn't be making if I were sitting around here for the next 11 days! We'll go on vacation, come back, and I'll move down to FL around the 3rd of July. Those plans are a little sketchy at this point since we don't have a move-in day set in stone yet.

I have applied for jobs with 2 local Orlando school districts so we'll see. The one you have to apply online and the other you fax/email/drop off your resume and cover letter but keep your fingers crossed!

TODAY I RECEIVED MY TEACHING CERTIFICATE IN THE MAIL!!!!! I'm sure most of you saw the pic on FB..and I was thrilled!!!!!!

NOW FOR THE TRIP REPORT...

SUNDAY MARCH 20, 2011

When I left off, we were about to get dinner at MK! Bro wanted us to pick him up the meatball hoagie from PVH since he loved it in Dec so we did that, took it to CHH and ordered our food...fish/chicken baskets, apple dessert, and sweet teas

453.jpg

454.jpg

It was as good as always! By the time we finished, it was time for the new Memories show!

463.jpg

It was good except the family in front of us did the classic "PUT THE CHILD ON SHOULDERS AS THE SHOW IS ABOUT TO START.." GRRR!!!

Bro took over the camera since I couldn't see very well.

466.jpg

468.jpg

We ended up moving a little closer for when Wishes started and had a better view!

477.jpg

492.jpg

497.jpg

498.jpg

After the fireworks, we hit the rides hard core starting with Adventureland!

501.jpg

We flew on the carpets..

504.jpg

We also did POTC, SM, BTM, and caught the end of the parade on our way to HM:

512.jpg

After HM, we rode IASM, Peter Pan, Snow White, and DUMBO!!!

514.jpg

517.jpg

521.jpg

We rode PCRC and I got stuck at the top like always!!

525.jpg

After Pooh, we rode on the tea cups and I tried to not spin mine!!

529.jpg

We went to ride TTA but it was closed!!!!!

We settled for SM and then called it a night. The park was open till 2am but we left just before 1am:

538.jpg

539.jpg

We rode so much in the short amount of time we were there. EMH late really helped us and on the way out we stopped at the bakery for breakfast:

540.jpg

By 2am we were in bed, bro had a short night since he worked at 7:15am but he woke me up before he left, we said our goodbyes then and there and I fell back asleep till the phone rang at 9:15am for our wake-up call!!!!

UP NEXT:
~POOL TIME BEFORE LEAVING!!
~PACKING UP AND LEAVING OUR WONDERFUL ROOM
~WILL OUR FIGHT BE ON TIME?
~CRAZY SECURITY LINES!!!!!

That is nice you had the offer of 2 jobs even if you turned them down :goodvibes

Where are you moving to in July? With one of your former roomates? Just nosey

WOW..you got a lot accomplished at EMH. Looks like you guys had a blast :thumbsup2

What a whirlwind tour of MK for EMH. Awesome number of rides you got in :thumbsup2 Was the park relatively empty when it got passed midnight?

Congrats on the job offers! Even despite turning them down. I'm so excited for you to be moving back to FL. That stinks about the sinus infection. Hope it goes away soon

Congrats on the Nanny job....that extra money will come in handy for your trip!

Great evening at the MK...I have never stayed that late for EMH but I think we'll have to give it a go at some point! It looked pretty empty as you were leaving!!!

Not sure when I'm moving..most likely it will be the first of July but no official date yet. I'm going to wait until I'm there next week and talk with the apt people to see if we can get an official move-in date and go from there.

I'm going to be living with a former roommate who I lived with on my college program. She moved back and is working with Disney again so it works out for me since it will save money! Another one of our CP roomies might be moving down too in Aug so we might splurge for a 3 bedroom and hope she comes or play it safe with a 2 bedroom and go from there.

It was pretty empty at MK, that's how we were able to ride so many rides!!!

Thanks :) I have no idea why I had to get sick right at the end of school/graduation/starting the Nanny job but it is what it is. My classroom would be kept at 73 degrees at at home it's like 80+ so I'm sure that doesn't help plus the allergies and at least one of my kids had been sick at school for a week so all those things put together and I get nailed! I'm hoping my immune system will clear up now that I won't be around 12 rugrats 5 days a week for 9 hours a day!!!

Congrats on the Nanny job....that extra money will come in handy for your trip!

Thanks! I'm thinking the extra money will come in handy for the move in July :rotfl: I'm not looking to spend a ton on vacation. I might buy a thing or two at Universal and at Vero Beach but we've just gone to Disney so I don't think there will be much to buy(if anything) and when we were there, I didn't buy much to begin with which was a first :woohoo:

I might have already said this, but we are going to be at WDW the same time you are. I hope I get to see you. I'll say hello if I spot you !!

The castle looks so pretty during the new show! I can't wait to see it! Do they do it right before Wishes?

Yay, lots of rides during EMH! I really have to go on Dumbo on my next trip, it's so cute! :lovestruc

Wow, that's awesome how many rides you got done during EMH! I don't know if I could stay up that late though. haha! I think I'll stick with morning EMH.

You got some great pictures of the night shows!

And congrats on getting your teaching certificate. :thumbsup2

Megan,
I feel so bad I've fallen so far behind. I just haven't had time recently to be on the DIS at all.

That being said, I'm so excited to hear about all of your plans to be down in Florida in July and start the job hunt. Sending good thoughts your way. :goodvibes

That's so sad to hear about the school that you were working at. It's horrible when they throw it on you in such short notice.

Your trip just sounded like so much fun, and you guys seemed to have such a great time. I can't wait to hear about your upcoming trip. It's so soon!

Sounds good! Since we aren't going to any parks it might be a little hard but you never know!!

They do the show before wishes and after wishes but we caught the one before!

Welcome back!!!! 11 more days I can't believe it!

CHH looks so yummy! I really can't wait to try it! :thumbsup2

That's annoying when people do the "child-on-the-shoulder" thing. :(

At least you had a better view for Wishes! :lovestruc

You got A LOT accomplished during EMH! I'm so proud! :yay:

SM is a great way to end the night!

10 DAYS!!!!! :woohoo:

It was very yummy!!!! I don't mine the child on shoulders but at least warn the people that are standing directly behind you so it's not such a shock when you do it a second after the show begins!!

LAST DAY OF THE MARCH TRIP!!!

HI DIS FRIENDS...HAPPY THURSDAY, THE WEEKEND IS ALMOST HERE!!!

7 DAYS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! A WEEK FROM NOW, I'LL BE ALREADY LANDED IN ORLANDO!!!!!!!!

Anyways..

I figured I would recap this past week since it's been crazy so far! I'm a nanny this week and 3 days next week to two kids (DD 5 and DS3). They were kids from the school I worked at and it's worked out great!
Monday we just hung around the house, took DD to her last day of school and picked her up. Then we went to Kings Island to get their season passes and went on 3 rides.
Tues we went to Kings Island waterpark with a teacher from my old job and the 3 kids shes a nanny for which was fun and great to have an extra set of hands with 5 kids!
Wed we went to the Cincinnati Reds game which was a disaster. It was hot, the kids were impatient and tired and it took us 1hr45min to get home and should have taken 30mins.
Today was much better, we went to Kings Island with my friend and her 3 again which was fun!
I'm ready for tomorrow to be Friday!!!!!

Anyways since I'm 7 days away from the next trip, I thought I better finish up this TR so I'll finish with our last day and probably do a follow-up of the trip + purchase pictures on Sunday!!!

MONDAY MARCH 21, 2011

We ended up sleeping in that day since we were out late the night before for MK EMH but were still up by 9!!

Mom and I threw some clothes on, looked presentable, and walked to the food court for breakfast. We both had our cinnamon rolls from the night before...

540-1.jpg

It was awesome but would have been better hot the night before!

After breakfast, I headed to the pool for an hour and mom went to the room to clean-up and pack.

543.jpg

545.jpg

548.jpg

554.jpg

Even though we were only there for 4 nights, it really did feel like "home" to us which we never thought we'd find in a resort except for WL but for a moderate, it felt like "home".

Our DME was arriving at 1:15pm to pick us up so by 11:30, we were showered, packed, and headed to check our bags and get our boarding passes. We had no clue it was inside since most seem to be outside so after getting a little lost we found it!

At 12pm, we met my CM friend "D" and her DBF in the lobby for lunch at POFQ.

I got the shrimp PO BOY, mom got the chicken sandwich, and we both got ice cream for dessert, and bottled waters for the bus ride.

558.jpg

I read reports that the food can be slow cooking there. For dinner our arrival it didn't but lunch it did and we felt pressed for time and didn't enjoy the meal as well.

After the lunch we said our goodbyes, got our bags from the room and headed for the bus stop!

559.jpg

560.jpg

561.jpg

563.jpg

It was sad to be leaving but we knew we were going back in June so it wasn't as sad as other trips! Mom thought we should do a photo shoot outside the lobby as we waited!

564.jpg

565.jpg

567.jpg

Speaking of mom...I'm like racking my brain as to what to get her for her birthday. I was going to do Disney Florist but that would be it and with moving from POFQ to Vero Beach to Poly next week it just seems like a pain to have to lug around flowers. I thought of a cake but once again with the moving and if we don't finish it and where to get a cake delivered to POFQ but I might call Vero and see if they do anything. She mentioned gift cards..starbucks, mcds, chick fil a, but we'll see...

ANY IDEAS WOULD HELP!!!!

Back to the program now..

At 1:15 the bus arrived!

568.jpg

569.jpg

570.jpg

We drove to SSR to pick up some families but it seemed like we were there forever and one family forgot something from another family not riding and it was a mess leaving and going back..I never though we'd be leaving SSR but we finally did at 2pm!!

571.jpg

We pulled into the airport at 2:30pm and we were not the first stop but since I lived there and I'm familiar with the airport, we got off anyways and walked across to the B side from the A side. It was easy to do since we just had carry-on bags and boarding passes already.

572.jpg

573.jpg

The airport was packed as it was when we arrived so without wasting time, we went right to security!

574.jpg

575.jpg

When we were there in Dec, we waited in the food court area eating dinner and just made it to the plane as they called Zone 4 so we cut it super close but not this time!

A family in front of us at security had a little boy who was mildly autistic and the TSA lady cleared the line and let them go alone so the little boy would not get more upset which as a teacher it totally made my day and mom and I had tears in our eyes and mentioned to the TSA lady how wonderful that was!

We got through in plenty of time without doing the body scan this time, found our gate, and at at BK for dinner.

After dinner, we went potty and then it was time to board!

577.jpg

578.jpg

We made it back safe and sound. That's it as far as FL pics but I'll be back on Sunday to recap the trip and the trip purchases!!!!!

Look for other updates this weekend for the trip next week including Target Travel Section pics and packing pics too!!!!!!!!!!

STAY TUNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always feel the same way about departure. Sad, but at the same time, I normally know when my next trip will be, so I'm already looking forward to my next one.
