I know I mentioned it before, but I am FREEZING!!!! Is this normal after you've walked long distances?? I've taken a VERY hot shower and been in my warm jammies and under the covers and I am still freezing! BRRRRRR!

Post 16 today--it was in the low 80s--I had to put on a jacket...I was shivering at Panera Bread. Wish I had my Roots athletic pants--got them on sale last year (so they only cost an arm--I got to keep my leg:hyper:

It's normal! Be careful to stay warm so you don't get hypothermia.

Another supply tip from the coaches--buy a blanket--garage sale, thrift store whatever--they are good to cover up with while you are waiting in the cold for a couple of hours--drop when the race stores.

Hot showers post race---BAAAAADDDDD--heat has a bad effect on muscle recovery--I use warm/hot for washing and then switch to cold. Just FYI--so if your muscles are hurting super bad tomorrow--that could by why. Everything COLD on long run day--use clothing and such to keep your skin warm.

You gals are sooo awesome:Pinkbounc All of those great longgggg runs/walks - GREAT JOB!

I only managed a 2.5 due to time, I almost didn't get in one. More for tomorrow:) I wish it was in the 80's today but only 50's & drizzling all day:(

I'm so confused about the meeting tickets:rolleyes: I think I'm going to buy the tickets form the main disney site to be safe.

hey guys -- have you checked out the ticket pricing ondisneysports.com the these prices look awesome to me and this is the site given to me by disney directly

The beauty of my seasonal pass--I feel your pain though, sounds like this has been too annoying of a process!

Karen,

I get really cold after a run too. Here's what works for me.

I just got back from 7 mile run - I finish up outside our place, or back at the car (depending on where I am running), and then put on a sweater, gloves and hat for my 5minute cool down walk and stretching.

Come back inside (still wearing all the gear) fill the kettle, eat a yoghurt, and a banana, and drink some powerade. Then I ran a coolish bath and strip, and sit in it for 5-10 minutes depending on how my legs feel. The cool water helps with muscle recovery, as Lisa said. (In the summer I actually fill the tub with cold water and ice cubes, but in winter I use a little bit of hot to take the sting off). I read the mailbag page and startracks in people, then drain the water and fill the tub again with warm water, and a bath oil I just found. It's got black pepper in it, which helps muscles aches!

I sit in the tub for about 10-15 minutes, then get out and wrap in a towel and my bathrobe. I put the bathrobe in the dryer when I first run the cold tub, so it's toasty when I get out. Then I turn the kettle on, make hot chocolate and then sit in front of the gas fire in my towel, bathrobe and a silver blanket. I bought a bunch of them at the dollar store. It takes me about 30 minutes to thaw out and be warm again.

My long run day is always a right off for anything else. Because my "after run" stuff take about an hour or so.

Eat lots, drink lots and take of metal jewellary - rings, earrings, bracelets etc it attracts the cold.

For before the race I am will be wrapped in either silver blankets or a really old sleeping bag that I can leave behind.

The silver blankets work great, wrap one round your waist like a skirt and another over your shoulders like a shawl.

You guys AMAZE me! You know everything!! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZSYYYYYYYYUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_2_9.gif' border=0></a> You're so smart!

Thanks for the tips on getting warm again! Believe it or not- I am still pretty cold- but after my shower, I put my warm jammies on and got into bed for about 3hours under the blanket and sheets and comforter... but I'm still a little cold! Just so you can understand how absolutely unbelievable this is- at night- in the fall/winter- I sleep with pj's on and the sheet. That's it! I must've missed the part where they told you that you get cold after all is said and done!

Maybe I should try walking with some long pants next weekend? I really don't want to because they make me so warm, but maybe I can find some that are meant to be worn when doing long runs. ANyone have any experienbce with that???

Mom- those prices are FANTASTIC! I can't believe you can get a 5 day PH for 168.00! That's great! thanks for the link!

On closer inspection though Mom- at the top of the page in bright red letters it says these tickets are not available for the time we'll be there. Are you getting that too? If not, can you PM me the Team/Participant name you put on?

Hi guys,
I haven't done any real walking since Tuesday unless you count my 15 or 20 minute stroll from the car to the park at Niagara Falls tonight. Every Christmas season there is a festival of lights here. Disney is one of the sponsors and the park is full of Disney light displays. Since tonight was opening night, there was a 20-minute Disney Christmas show with Mickey, Minnie and the gang (the real ones all the way from Florida). Then there was a short fireworks display with Disney music playing in the background. It's the closest we can get to Disney here (well - except for the Disney store that is about an hour's drive from here where I'm meeting Debbie and MaryLiz tomorrow :) )

Molli - 8 miles in less than 2 hours! Way to go!

Terry - Sorry to hear that you have high blood pressure. Make sure you get into your doctor.

Dawn and Karen - :Pinkbounc You are almost there. If you can walk that far, you can definitely do the 13 miles come race day!

Lisa and TriMom - You both are amazing running 16 miles! Sounds like you are right on schedule for the full marathon.

MaryEllen - I think we had the same weather as you today. It drizzled all day but was quite warm for November. There were a lot of people standing in the rain with me to see Mickey and the gang!

Hope everyone's Sunday is a good one!

Wow! Everyone is certainly doing great this weekend. Me too! I got my 8 miles in 2 hours. I was able to go with my brother and he told me I should have no problem completing the 1/2 in the alloted time. He said it was not as important to do the entire race length for the 1/2 as much as he felt that it was for the full. I feel so good about that!

I moved with my waist pack and camera. Brother thought I was nuts, but I told him I was a Penguin and intended to take pics!

I have taken water off and on. I'm still not entirely decided about that yet.

Karen, hope you are warmer by now. I am still going to try to get hold of the mylar blanket. Haven't thought of looking in the dollar store for them.

So, whre are those pics ladies of the Niagara 1/2?

Yes, please share! When you hit the more info button under the tickets there is a phone number to call someone for more than 10 tickets, so at least we may be able to speak to a human being tomorrow (I got a persons voice mail when I called).

My long walk is tomorrow morning.....followed by lunch with Nativetxn.....if we can ever get beyond leaving each other voice mail messages!

....I think I worked enough overtime today to pay for my airline tickets in January :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I was getting that same error in red -- but I figured there was a solution since disney sent me that tip! i plan on calling today and will post after church

**edited b/c i couldn't stand the wait -- just off the phone with WWoS complex and the operator told me there are no seperate park tickets sold for marathon participants, only packages. She priced it for me and it would be $300 more for only 2 adults in the room (not including the 2 nights we'd have 4) I shared with her my disappointed that Disney wasn't offering a reduced rate park ticket for marathon participants that booked another way, yet still through Disney. She said she passed my concern to their supervisor and I should call back in a couple days to see if they will offer park hoppers. what a crock! i'm not done with this, is there any value to calling WDW group reservations monday? that will be my next step

 Everyone! I've read all the thread, but I won't reply to everyone. You are all doing great!

I woke up yesterday (SAT) full of energy, after a ho-hum, I'm not doin' anything week. I think that the reports and the kids have me all worn out. :( ANYWAY, I got up, called Mary Liz and hit Curves. HR was 70%, throughout, so I guess that that is okay.

Last night, I wrapped ALL of the extended family's gifts! :jumping3: :jumping3: :jumping3:

This morning, after a good night's sleep, I woke at my usual 6:20, wide awake. Decided to get out and walk. So I did. I did a s-l-o-w 20 minute mile to warm up (wanted to avoid the shin problem), and then walked for TWO hours! When I looked at my pedometer, I was REALLY discouraged, though, because, although I felt like I had been moving, it read 5.94 miles in that 2 hours. . :worried: I decided that maybe it was wrong, and got in the car and retraced (backwards) the route. It turns out that I had walked 11.9 km which works out to 7.4375 miles (NOT 5.94) in the 120 minutes....which works out to 16.13 minute miles....and that is including that 20 minute warm-up and a short cool-down.
:jumping4: :jumping4: :jumping4: :jumping4:

Came in, had the shower, grabbed a bagel and headed to the Disney Store with Mary Liz to meet Nancy.
:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Daybook-done,
Planning for December-well on its way
Presents-coming along nicely

All in all....a very productive weekend! :sunny:
