Hi guys!

I'm planning my marathon weekend trip in January-first time ever for Marathon Weekend!-and I noticed that there are no discounted packages for runners through the sports department. When I've booked other races (Princess and Wine and Dine) there were pretty significant savings if you were running and booked via the sports travel department. Have you guys noticed any special Marathon Package pricing in the past? As it is, there is a regular discount available to everyone, and it is an okay price, but not great. I used to not be cheap but the current economy makes me have to count every penny, wondering if I should stay off property this time...if you've done marathon weekend in the past, did they used to offer discounts to runners? Thanks!

In 2011, no. My best price this January came from a general public discount (even better in my case than the AP discount that came out later). For 2012 I'm staying off-site, so I haven't been following what's available.

There are never any discounts for marathon weekend--not on hotels or on tickets. The best way to get any deal is through the RO discount that came out to GP today,.

Plus, they put premium pricing on marathon weekend for Fri and Sat nights, so you end up paying more.
