Marathon or MLK?

Need some advice. I say MLK is more crowded and DW says marathon weekend. Neither of us really know since we are new members and this will be our first trip to DVC. We are looking to book a trip for January, but would like to know which of these weekends is more crowded (parks). We are flexible and are planning a 10 night stay, so we will hit one or the other. Any thoughts?

Sorry to side with you and not your DW (we DWs need to stick together whenever we can, LOL).

My vote is MLK - for park crowds. Most marathoners don't visit the parks much (either preparing for the race or running in it, LOL), but MLK draws in the locals. It can be a little challenging to get around on the Day of the marathon, though.

That said, it can be tough to get DVC accomodations over the marathon weekend if you don't book right at the 7 month window or earlier. I guess if you can't get a reservation, it really doesn't matter which time is more crowded, right? ;) :teeth:

Don't be sorry for siding with me, I find myself correct quite often. I don't let DW know this, but I know it (LOL). :lmao:

I'm booking it tomorrow at home resort, then trying to get BCV or BWV at the 7 month.

Thanks,

Dan

Correct. Or I would be telling a different story.

Think I will book the earlier part of January and risk .... running into the marathon people. :lmao: :lmao: OK that was not that funny. :confused3

We were at WDW this January for two weeks through both the marathon and MLK weekend, and honestly I didn't notice a difference in crowd levels at all the whole trip. The Saturdays were a little bit busier but other than that it seemed like every day had similar crowds. The buses were a bit difficult marathon morning but by afternoon everything was running great.
