Just booked a 1 bdr. suite at the Wilderness Lodge Villas using a code we found on Mousesavers. Our stay will be from June 30th-July 5th. I was quoted a price which was 1812.00 for the 5 nights using the discount code. Having only stayed at the Wilderness Lodge proper and having never stayed here at the Villas, we obviously have a lot of questions!! Are the 1 bdr. suites that nice? Do they have a lot of room? Is this a good price for our stay? Are they that much better than the Lodge? Thanks for any input and suggestions!! Chip.

I have a new concept of luxury after spending time in a 1 BR --- it's space. Picture 700+ square feet, a jacuzzi, your own washer and dryer (so you don't need to pack as much), an actual living room, so someone can stay up late or get up early and the other person can sleep, a HUGE bathroom and shower, and a kitchen --- just in case you want your own ice cubes, cold drinks, ice cream, and a place to put left overs from the large meals served at Disney. Oh, yes, cooking is strictly optional, but it's handy to be able to eat a quick breakfast in the room.

The VWL have a similar theme as does the WL, and the colors are a bit unique ---- dark green and red and black/white. The villas do not have many rooms with a lake view but that can be requested; most are woods view, so don't be surprised if that's what you get. They're close to the bus stop and a 5 minute walk to the boat. There's a generally quiet atmosphere there, unless you happen to get noisy neighbors.

Hope you enjoy your stay!

Is this a good price for our stay?

I'm assuming the $1,812 is the price with tax. The rack rate for this time period would cost you $2,369.40 (tax included) or $473.88 per night. You've got a pretty good discount for Regular Season. KDA has already described the luxury that awaits you. The one-bedroom experience really kicks it up a notch (or ten). Enjoy.

You got a good rate for a 1BR, especially if it includes tax.

You will love the extra space in th 1BR, the kitchen facilities & the washer/dryer that you will get. I wouldn't compare it to "the lodge" area because you are actually still staying at "the lodge" but it's better because you have more space. You will have the choice of swimming in the DVC pool or the WL pool.

I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Beware of one thing. After staying in accommodations with so much space & luxury you will be bitten by the DVC bug. It happened to us when we stayed at OKW. We came home & immediately bought a resale. :D

Thanks everyone!! It sounds as if we did get a pretty great deal!! The $1812.00 by the way was tax included for the 5 nights. Looking forward to going!! Again thanks, Chip&Janet.

Did you check how much it would cost to rent DVC points? I don't know how many points a 1 bedroom costs (we've only stayed in a studio), but it's possible that it could be less expensive than a cash reservation. We rented points to stay in the BWV last Nov., and we also bought into DVC (resale) when we got home :) We haven't stayed at the VWL yet, but we did look around there after we had dinner at Artist's Point in Feb., and the VWL looks very nice!!

A 1BR at VWL would be 30 pts. per night - total of 150 pts. for the time the original poster is going. So, if she could rent them for approximately $10 (which is the average price) she could save herself even more money.

Chip64 - you may want to check into this on the DVC Rent/Trade Board. You could save yourself over $300 if you rented for $10 per pt. & even more money if you were lucky enough to be able to rent for less. We were able to rent for $8.50/pt. in Nov. at OKW. That price would include tax also.
