Hello Everyone!

My first time posting, I've been reading for weeks and finally decided to join.

My DH and I are going to Disneyland Nov. 13th thru Nov. 18th of this year for :wizard: our 25 year anniversary.

We've been to both WDW and WDL with our children and last Feb. we took our oldest grandaughter ( not brave enough to take the twins yet).

Anyhoo, :goodvibes this will be our first time staying at the Grand Californian. I went ahead and sprang for the Concerige level with theme park view since it was a special ocassion.

SoOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooOOOOoo..I'm looking for some fun couple things for us to do. Any suggestions will be most welcomed.

Has anyone taken the Segway tour? Where they hard to ride/drive? I'm afraid of falling off or running into something. :scared1:

Is there a best night to eat at Napa Rose? Anything special to recommend to eat there? Was the kitchen counter noicey? How soon do I need to make reservations for this resturant?

Oh yes, It's nice to meet You all and I've learned alot about Disneyland from reading your posts!

Welcome!!!!

I can't help you much since my trips are so kid-orientent. But I hope you have fun!

All the Christmas stuff should be up, but I think the real kick-off to the holiday season in not til the 21st.

I've heard good things about the Napa Rose, and I've also heard the Segway tour is fun. I believe they give you a mini lesson at the beginning.

Hi Jenn!

Thanks for the well wishes...I want to make this a special trip for my DH. He's my Prince Charming.:lovestruc

It's our first trip as empty nesters.

I hope I don't get sad seeing all the things we did with our children and grandchildren.

I have no advice about anything since I haven't been to DL since I was 5--right around the time of your wedding! Congratulations on your anniversary!

I can tell you that I've been on a Segway and they are fun and not at all hard to manuever. As a matter of fact, I was pregnant with my first child (first trimester) and wearing a skirt and still was okay on it--and I felt very safe. Granted I wasn't zipping along at warp speed, but I was moving! (Not at Disney, it actually was while I was at work...long story!)

First off, :welcome:

Secondly, you are going at a great time of year. I love going to DL in November, the christmas decorations should be up, and the crowds should be relatively low.

You will love the segway tour. It was amazing. Like you I was terrified of falling off and asked a billion questions about the tour before I took it. It's hard to explain what it's like, but it's easy to catch on. The instructors are there to help you. They help you individually and make sure you are comfortable, it feels very strange at first and takes about 10-15 minutes to really be comfortable (depending on the person, my dh was immediately comfortable). They give you some activities to do to get a feel for the segway and work up your courage to trust you segway and then they give you some time to fly around before they start you on the tour. It's a great tour, and I strongly recommend it. At first you'll go really slow but by the end of the tour you'll be wishing the segways went faster.

Sorry I can't help you about Napa Rose but I heard it's good food. And you can make reservations 60 days in advance.

Thank You both for responding that was so nice of You.:cheer2:

I am really looking forward to trying the Segway out! Even if I'm a little scardy cat.

Hey DisSarahK...You're making me feel old, I'm only 45!:rotfl: May i ask You how You get the disney trip count down thing on your posts?

XTinabelle.. I was wondering if the Christmas Decorations would be up..that's so kewl! I always wanted to see that.:clown:

My DH and I went to DLR last Sept. for my 40th birthday and it was also our 20th anniversary year! We had the best time! It was so fun to do whatever we wanted, we didn't have to ride anything we didn't want to ride. We walked around and just went with the flow. Very low key and soooo much fun! I would do it again in a heartbeat.

We saw everything we wanted to see, went in all the shops on Main street and NOS, saw lots of characters, ate when we wanted, left when we wanted, came back to DL when we wanted!! It was so great.

The only thing I wish we had done was not Disney related, we talked about going to see Wicked when we were out there, but decided to do Six Flags Magic Mountain instead!!! BIG, BIG disappointment! I would much rather have gone to the theater than a dirty, disgusting, depressing Amusement Park. But, that's okay, like you, my DH  is still and always my Prince Charming and it was a great trip!

Hope that Helps!!
Shannon

Hi, Fairykin, welcome!

You will LOVE the GCH, it's great that you splurged to do something really nice for your anniversary!

We have not been to Napa Rose; in fact we canceled our reservations just before dinner time because DD was sick-- we had room service instead, and it was wonderful, too, and fun to watch a Disney video while we ate our supper. You might consider "eating in" this way; I am thinking that if you can get a fireworks view (DTD view or another spot where you can see the fireworks) that it would be kind of neat to do a late supper on your balcony with a bottle of champagne and watch the fireworks.

About Napa Rose, though; all the reviews say it's very romantic and nice. I know that you can request seating at the chef's counter, where you can watch them prepare the meals, and they talk to you and give you special tastes of stuff... but you might want it to be just the two of you at a quiet table. You can make reservations 60 days out by calling Disney Dining.

I think GCH does something called "Magic" where you call up guest services before you go, let them know that it is your 25th anniversary, and ask them what they can do special for you. They might have banners, balloons, autographed pictures of your favorite character placed in your room when you arrive-- I think those are free. (we requested this for our first visit, but apparently they forgot, oh well). They also have gift baskets available, I believe, and things like milk and cookies delivered to you room at night.

Hope that helps! Enjoy your planning! :goodvibes
