Help...we are on a tight buget. I was fidilling around on hot wire and got a rate of $26 night for a 2 and 1/2 start hotel in the WDW area. Is there anywhere I could find a list of the star catagories with hotel names? In your experiences what have you gotten for that price range off of Hotwire. I do not want to buy it if it is in a bad area or a bad hotel that is dirty. I just want a basic clean hotel. Any help would be great. Thanks

Beware, both Hotwire and Priceline often sell the Nikki Bird HI....and it gets rather dismal reviews... rooms there go somewhere in the price range you are talking about... if you check the exact amenities that the Hotwire property you are looking at has and compare that to the list at Betterbidding.com you can make sure that is not what you will wind up with.

At Priceline you have no control over which hotel you get, at least on Hotwire you can have a pretty good idea what you are getting. Most of the other 2 1/2* properties seem to get decent reviews (clean, safe, adequate).

The betterbidding.com board is very user friendly and the moderators helpful. Beware however that the biddingfortravel.com board, while containing lots of good priceline info (nothing on hotwire there though) is run by an Internet-Nazi who will chew out unsuspecting posters if they do not follow all 6422 of her rules to the tee. I would strongly recommend just looking there until you get the hang of the rules.

LOL- that cracks me up- it is sooooo true! Internet Nazi- tee hee:tongue:

I have to agree about the biddingfortravel website. I use them for research, but would never think to post there!!! Betterbidding is the one you want for Hotwire though, but beware, they don't always have complete info. I've seen quite often where they are waaaay off base.

As for the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird. It is a 2.5 star in the WDW zone. It does usually come up for the upper 20's a night. I would run far and fast. I just posted a review of this hotel last week.

I would honestly try a 3* on priceline. Most of them are pretty nice and can usually be picked up for $30-something depending on your travel dates.

Glad I am not the only one lurking with fear and trembling on the betterbidding.com site....that woman is SCARY!!!

Hi,

I would agree that betterbidding.com is a good site to get info about hotwire. I've noticed that in the past couple of months a 2.5* on Hotwire in that $ range has been LaQuinta Inn Lakeside. I stayed there a couple years ago when it was Sheraton and was very happy with the hotel. Other people have recently stayed there. You could probably do a search for more info. Like SB said, the other hotel coming up within that $ range is the HI Niki Bird, which I have not heard many good things about.

I TOTALLY agree about biddingfortravel.com. The moderator there is not "user friendly" or even "people friendly" IMHO. I would go there for hotel reviews and bidding stragies and nothing else. HTH

We just bought La Quinta off of Hotwire for $26/night. I think it was a two and a half star. Amenities were Pool, Restaraunt and (fitness i think?). I have read a few reviews and people have been very happy.
