Mandymouse's Trippy Part 1 ~ Food & Wine Festival Frolics

I think it's fair to say that you love Epcot just as much as I do!

Teppan Edo looks great. Looking forward to trying it for the first time next year.

Wednesday 27th October '10 ~ High 91F

We slept in this morning and decided to take it easy. We popped to Wal-Mart for some bits and bobs and around 11am we caught the bus to Epcot. We took a slow walk round to the Rose & Crown where I was meeting up with my friend Sandy (who is one of the Bahama Mamas, who I met on the Disney Wonder in August 2008, and who has become a great friend)

Our ADR was at 12.05, I checked in and was given a pager, and within no time Sandy arrived. It was lovely to see her again, and we had a little chat outside, then when Paul went to find why our pager hadn't gone off, we found that our table was ready

We were thrilled to be sitting inside, as it was very warm today. We didn't bother with starters, then Paul & Sandy ordered fish & chips and I had Shepherds pie. This was our first visit to the Rose & Crown restaurant (though we are not strangers to the bar :lmao:), we really enjoyed the food, and it will definitely be one to visit again

Anyway, we had a lovely time chatting to Sandy and catching up with each other. After a lovely lunch and dessert we left to get a Grey Goose Lemon Slushie from France

DSCN1921.jpg

After having some photos taken, Sandy headed out of the International Gateway (thanks for coming Sandy, it was lovely to see you ) and we caught the bus back to the Pop.

As Mousekeeping were sorting out our room, we wandered around the resort taking photos

Once back at the room, Paul went for a sunbathe and I showered and chilled for a while

After a quick chat on Skype with the girls we caught the bus to DHS as we had arranged to meet up with Tony & Theresa at the Tune In Lounge

They were already waiting for us, and we spent a lovely hour or two chatting and having a couple of cocktails

DSCN1929.jpg

After having some photopass photos taken we said our goodbyes and left the park. We caught the bus back to the Pop and Paul picked up his camera etc, then we caught another bus to the Magic Kingdom as Paul wanted to take some pics of the fireworks

As Wishes was only on on certain nights due to the MNSSHP, the Magic Kingdom was packed. First we had dinner at Cosmic Rays (rotiserrie chicken all round), then we went to find a place to take some photos. All around the castle was heaving, and we ended up on the bridge towards Tomorrowland

It wasn't the best place for firework photos, but we did our best, then when Wishes was over we stayed behind and took some more photos

We then caught the bus back to the Pop Century and it was time for bed

Thursday 28th October ~ High 92F

It was morning EMH's at the Magic Kingdom today (which was our original plan for today), but we really couldn't be bothered to get up early, so we decided that as RnRC had been closed earlier in the week that we'd head to DHS for an hour or as we were meeting up with Jules & Ian at O'Hanas for breakfast at 10.30am

We were at DHS for 9am opening and rode RnRC first (yay !!) and we just had time to ride ToT and visit the Star Tours shop then we left at 10am

DSCN1941.jpg

We arrived at the Polynesian Resort 15 minutes later. Jules, Ian, Neil, Helen & Kai arrived a short time later and it wasn't long before we were called to our table. We had a lovely time at the breakfast. We chatted and took photos and had a couple of skillets of bacon, sausages, potato wedges, scrambled egg, waffles, fruit and breads (it was all very nice)

I think the characters thought they they only had to see Kai, but we put them right and got lots of photos with them :rotfl2:

(Stitch insisted we wear our sunnies :rotfl:)

After brekkie we said goodbye, and we arranged to meet up later with Jules & Ian in Epcot as tonight we were going to hit the Food & Wine Festival :yay:

Paul & I went down to DownTown Disney and we did some major shopping (we did miss the 20% off due to our expired annual passes though)

Once back at the Pop Century, we relaxed by the pool and I did some washing. We then showered, got changed and chatted to the girls on Skype and we were ready to leave to meet up with the Smith's, when we got a text from Jules saying that she was feeling poorly (as she had been badly bitten by some mozzies at her BBQ and they were starting to get infected ~ poor thing  )

So Paul & I caught the bus to Epcot to raise a glass or two to them instead. It was still really hot, it was 92F, so we had a quick cool down on SpaceShip Earth (as there was no line), I saw Duffy Bear, then we wandered up to my favourite F&WF stand, the Champagne stand where I had a Rosé Imperial. Paul grabbed a beer in Mexico and we cooled down in the Mexican Pavillion. I fancied another glass of champers, then we both tried the Grilled Beef Skewer from the Argentina stand

Paul had a beer in Norway, then we sampled a couple of Xinjiang Barbecue Chicken Sticks and curried samosas in China

From the South Africa stand we tried a couple of Seared Beef Tenderloins with Sweet Potato Purèe, then had a couple of glasses of wine in Germany

DSCN1962.jpg

DSCN1963.jpg

Next we stopped off in Italy and had a couple of Rosa Regales and Asti's

We were very impressed with all the F&WF stands, but we wanted a proper meal, so we called in at Restaurant Marrakesh to see if there was a table available, and there was :yay:

DSCN1967.jpg

DSCN1968.jpg

We had a lovely meal of a couple of Restaurant Express cocktails, I had Roast Lamb Meshoui followed by some pastries, and Paul had Lemon Chicken followed by mint ice-cream

We wandered back around World Showcase, stopping off for a glass of Rosa Regale and Asti then popped into MouseGear to get Becky her own Duffy Bear and some more bits and bobs

We caught the bus back to the Pop and had a final Captain Mai Tai before calling it a night

Friday 29th October '10 ~ High 82F

We had a bit of a lie today, then made a start on our packing. We made a quick dash to Wal-Mart for a suitcase (as our holdall wasn't big enough and it was on it's last legs)

When the packing was finished, we loaded the car and set off for DHS. We got a FP for ToT, and had some lunch of 2 bacon cheeseburgers, fries, 1 coke, 1 water, a strawberry parfait and a cheesecake, which we devoured

We met Lotso Bear and Mr Incredible & Iceman, Lightning McQueen & Mater, rode ToT, then left the park

After stopping off for some gas, we set off for Port Canaveral. The drive didn't feel too long, it certainly felt quicker than the 45/50 minutes it actually took, and it wasn't long till we were checking in at the Ron Jon Caribe Resort

We were really impressed with the resort. Our room was in the main building on the ground floor, so we dropped our luggage off and got changed for a lie by the pool

(I think I've seen too many episodes of the Suite Life of Zack & Cody :rotfl2:)

The pool area was lovely too. There was a couple of pools, a lazy river, slides, kiddie play area and a pool bar

DSCN1979.jpg

DSCN1981.jpg

After relaxing for an hour or so we got changed and went to explore. We walked down to the beach and after taking a few pics, we took the resort tram back to the main building

DSCN1983.jpg

DSCN1984.jpg

Next we drove down to the Ron Jon surf shop. I didn't buy anything, but Paul came away with a pair of trousers, a jacket and a belt and he got 15% off when he showed our resort room key

In the evening we had dinner at the restaurant at the resort, and we really enjoyed it. We started with onion rings and chicken wings to share, then Paul had rib eye beef and I had a chicken dish, all washed down with a couple of RumRunners for me and Heinekens for Paul

We then had an early night, as once again we were going to be up at Silly O'clock to see a Disney ship return to port the next morning
