Wednesday 27th December 06
It was such a weird morning, I came downstairs to find that all evidence of Christmas had been removed, as we had taken the Christmas tree and decorations down on Boxing Day and the room looked empty ~ apart from the suitcases that were in the way of the kitchen door ~ Woohoo !! Were off on holiday today
At 10.30am we did on-line check-in with Virgin Atlantic and we were pleased that we had still got the seats that wed requested way back when we were able to reserve them (it seemed like months ago)
We left home around 1.15pm and headed to Manchester, as we were stopping the night in our £26 room at the Travelodge (bargain). The M6 was really busy and the usual 1 ½ hour trip took about 2 ½ hours. After checking in to the Travelodge, we drove over to Terminal 2 to see where we needed to do the bag drop the next morning. After finding the Virgin desk, we got back in the car and went to the Trafford Centre. The shopping centre was really busy, but I was still able to buy all my Christmas Cards, a diary and a calendar for ½ price in the Disney Store (its never too early to do some Disney shopping yknow).
After a good look around the shops, we found this lovely Chinese restaurant upstairs and we had a great meal. We got back to the room around 9.30pm and watched some telly before settling down to a very restless night (I cant sleep, Im too excited ~ can you remember the advert ??)
Thursday 28th December 06
I was up around 5.45am, and I was absolutely shattered. I got ready and then woke everyone else up. We left the Travelodge around 6.25am as we were meeting the Meet & Greet car service at 6.40am. The Virgin drop off worked like a dream, there was no queue and the check-in wasnt too busy anyway, so we picked up our boarding cards and headed through to departures. We had breakfast and waited for our flight to be called. The plane was running about 20 minutes late, but it didnt take long for us all to board and before we knew it, we were up in the air.
The flight was uneventful, and the food wasnt particularly good (and I usually like plane food). I watched The Devil Wears Prada (not that good), Pirates of the Caribbean 2 (I cant get enough of Captain Jack Sparrow) and Only Fools & Horses (the Batman & Robin episode ~ brilliant).
Anyway despite taking off 20 minutes late, we arrived 20 minutes early in Orlando International. We had been seated in row 32 (the 4 middle seats) and it was quite close to the exit, so we were one of the first dozen off the plane (apart from Premium Economy and Upper Class). Immigration was a breeze and we had a very friendly guy checking our passports etc. Our cases even came off quickly, we handed them back, caught the monorail and picked our cases up again within ½ an hour ~ Brilliant
We picked our car up from Dollar, though we had to change the first car as it was quite dented and we didnt want any problems when we brought it back (we had a mini van).
Half an hour later we were driving into the Pop Century (hurray were home!!) and we got a ground floor room in the 90s building (# 8165 - a few rooms away from where we had been last Christmas).
Once we had unpacked, we went to Wal-Mart for supplies of Lays, Mountain Dew, water etc. and then Super Target for the girls.
We were so tired, so we collapsed in bed and we were all asleep by 9.30pm
Friday 29th December 06
We were all up at 6am and at Animal Kingdom for 7am EMH. When we got there, there were boards up announcing that Donny Osmond was signing CDs (or something) in one of the AK stores, but no matter how many times I shouted What Donny Osmond is in the Island Mercantile !! and singing and they call it Puppy Love, the crowds still headed towards Expedition Everest. We rode EE 3 times, and the Kilamanjaro Safari once. We had breakfast of danishes, muffins and fruit in Tusker House and left AK around 11am.
We went back to the Pop, and spent a couple of hours sunbathing as it was lovely and warm.
Later in the afternoon we drove over to Epcot, but it started to drizzle, so we popped into The Land and had cakes and cookies.
We headed into World Showcase, and as the rain was getting heavier, Paul bought a poncho. The girls had their tea in China (vegetable lo-mein and beef fried rice), then Paul & I had a glass of wine in Germany followed by Chicken and Lamb platters for the Tangierine Café in Morocco. We had a quick drink in the Rose & Crown and then took the bus back to the Pop, where we were all fast asleep by 9.30pm.
Tomorrow MGM, Shopping and a surprise in my room
