Epcot
As many of you know Epcot is my favourite park, to me its like two parks rolled into one, where you can experience two completely different experiences in a day.
In The Morning
We always drove to Epcot, and made sure that we were there for opening. I would leg it to Soarin to get a fastpass, then the others would catch up and wed ride it straight away and save our FP for later. We would then ride Mission:Space, Test Track and wander through MouseGear (the best store ever !!) Then it would be breakfast in The Land. We would have the usual choc chip cookies, apple danishes, coissants and orange juice and then we would use our FP.
We also went to the new Character Connections area (next to the Fountainview Bakery), which has replaced the Character bus. I used to love seeing the bus go round, waving to the characters and hearing that song, so I wasnt sure about this new idea. You went in and joined the line, then each family usually saw Mickey Mouse first, but after that there was no more lining up, you just went from character to character. We saw Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip & Dale and Donald Duck, and on the odd occasion you would see other character like Pinocchio, Brer Bear and Meeko. So it was good that you only had to line up once and not in the heat, but I did miss the bus.
After that, we would walk around World Showcase and we would have lunch in China and then wed walk around the countries. As it got busier we would head back to our room for a chill or a sunbathe.
In The Evening
We would get the bus to Epcot in the evening, to experience our drinky-poo around the world time. We started in The Land with a Smirnoff Ice, then over to the Rose & Crown followed by some rather expensive Cadburys chocolate that we would have in the area behind the Tea Shoppe. As it was Christmas, we always saw the UK Father Christmas, this big guy would come out ringing his bell, in a green outfit (??) and singing Here we come a Wassiling .. After a couple of jokes about the Green Santa, we would stop in Morrocco (as DD1 is a huge Jasmine fan) and we would take photos of the girls with Genie or Aladdin. Then we would finish off with a glass or two of wine in Germany. The Candlelight Processional was on while we were there and it was lovely to hear the singing as you walked through the U.S. Pavillion. The decorations in Epcot were stunning too with the big Christmas tree at the entrance to the World Showcase.
We always left Epcot before the fireworks started, but most nights we saw them from outside our room, they were spectacular with beautiful red and green fireworks. One evening we were driving back from DownTown Disney and the fireworks were so loud that you could feel them through the car.
Princess Storybook Breakfast
This was another surprise for the family, my girls have NEVER been into Princesses, then suddenly eldest DD became really into Jasmine. I was a bit worried that Jasmine wouldnt be there that day, but I booked it anyway. Our reservation was for 8.50 am, and the park didnt open till 9.00am. We entered Epcot at 8.30am, and wow it was so different when it was empty. There was no-one around, so we stopped for photos along the way. It was a beautiful sunny morning, but a bit chilly, though we knew it was going to warm up quite nicely. We reported to the desk that we were there and we waited for our name to be called. We only waited 5 minutes and then the girls were ushered in to have photos taken with Belle. We were shown to our table, where there was a bowl with melon, pineapple and other fruit and some cinnamon bread. Our server brought us all some orange juice and then brought a skillet filled with bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, potato casserole and those sconey biscuit things on the top. The food was delicious, though not enough for 4, so when our server came back with more drinks we ordered another skillet (which we were unable to finish),
While we were having breakfast the Princesses came round for photos, we saw Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine (woohoo !!!), Mulan and even Cinderella (which I was really surprised about). Someone came round with the photos of Belle with the girls, but it wouldve been too expensive, and our own photos were just fine. The girls (and us) had a great time, we all enjoyed the food and seeing all the Princesses. When we left around 10ish, I bought the girls the Princess Breakfast pin to remind them of their surprise.
We will definitely do this character breakfast again.
