Wednesday 31st December ‘08 New Year’s Eve (High 74F)

The girls had a lie in this morning as they didn’t get back till 2.30am, so Paul & I decided to have a bit of a lie in too. We leisurely got up and jumped in the car and went to the Disney Hollywood Studios. First we got fastpasses for Tower of Terror, and then we went for a cup of tea and a cake at the Writers Stop. We rode the Backlot Tour and had some photos taken with Lightning McQueen and Mater

We then rode Tower of Terror and we did a bit of shopping before heading back to the Pop

The girls were finally up, so while they got ready and went for breakfast (more like lunch), Paul & I relaxed by the pool and I did a bit of washing too

Around 3pm we all caught the bus to Epcot as we were meeting Jules (saratogagirl) and her hubby Ian (crispywelsh) in Mexico at 4pm. At the bus stop, we heard that the Magic Kingdom had closed due to being full

The girls went off for a while, so we arranged to meet up with them in the UK Pavillion before the UK New Year at 7pm and we met up with Jules & Ian, and the festivities began

We started with a couple of drinks from a stand on the promenade outside Norway (which became my fave place for a White Zinfandel), and we had a few glasses of wine in Germany, followed by a drink in Italy too

Around 6pm we could line up for our New Year’s hats and blowers and noisily we headed to the UK

The UK was unbelievably busy. There was a line to get into the Rose & Crown and the line for the chip shop was half way over the bridge to France

Anyway, we met up with the girls, and by now we were all starting to get very silly. Me and Jules joined in with a circle of people singing Auld Lang Syne and I’m sure somewhere along the way the circle turned into the Hokey Cokey (but I may be wrong about that) and also Paul & Ian had a quick New Year’s peck (oh er missus)

We could just about see the first showing of IllumiNations at 7.30pm while we stood outside the Rose & Crown, and I was quite proud that after 3 ½ hours of solid drinking, I was feeling OK to carry on.

After seeing the UK New Year in, the girls decided to head back to the Pop for a rest before heading to the Disney Hollywood Studios for EMH (midnight to 3pm)

Anywho, the Rose & Crown was calling us, so we went inside for a while. I wish I could remember some of the conversations we were having, but all I can say is that we were just having a great time and we just laughed all night. I do know that we met this guy in there who was supposed to sell planes or whatever and he was really full of himself, so you can imagine he wasn’t impressing us at all (boring !!

). Anyway it wasn’t till I got home that Jules reminded me that we were planning to follow him to Mexico (why ?? I don’t know :confused3 )

Now things become very hazy. The last place I remember being with Jules & Ian is in Italy lining up for another wine, and Paul remembers us going on to Germany afterwards. Unfortunately the final IllumiNations started at 11.50pm, and a lot of people moved to watch them, and this is where, I am told, we lost Jules & Ian

The next thing I remember is being in China eating Honey Chicken, egg rolls and me knocking a full diet coke drink all over the floor (Paul has no recollection of being in China at all)

We got the bus back to the Pop, and we got back around 1.30am

We had the best New Year’s Eve ever, it was so much fun, and Jules and Ian were great company. We’re all hoping to do it all over again this New Year ~ So Bring It On !!!!!!

I couldn't hear a word you were saying (due to the noise at Kev & Tam's, rather than your Stanley Unwin impression), but I knew I was talking to you because the screen on my mobile told me so and that was good enough for me! :goodvibes

how were you all next day

I know from having to spoke to Mandy that she and Paul struggled on New Years Day. As for us, New Years Day was our full cleaning day at Saratoga so we were knocked awake by housekeeping at 10.00. We dragged ourselves to Artists Palette where much coffee and water was taken. We then decided it would be a good idea to go to Downtown Disney, Ian nearly dropped the basket in World of Disney as he thought he had to run out and be sick LOL. We had lunch of pizzas at Pucks where Ian managed his first beer at around 3.00. The rest of the day was spent alternating between the settee and the balcony, before venturing back to Downtown Disney at around 7.30 where I managed a Margarita at the little shack and some wine at House of Blues before dinner at Bongos. I can honestly say we we thought we were dying until we were able to hold the pizza down, it was worth it though, we had a great night ...

LIGHTWEIGHT'S!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Without wishing to hijack Mands thread, I happened upon a certain Vernon at Epcot who was more than happy to share that he had met with you at The Orlando Ale House, where you may have struggled a little to force down two pints, something about a heavy day the day before :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Lightweight my tushy :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
