A man was trespassed from Disney World yesterday after refusing to follow both the Orange County mask mandate and Disney World private property rules. In a video posted to social media, the man can be heard yelling about a variety of topics from religion to incorrectly claiming that China owns 50% of Walt Disney World to misquoting Pixar’s A Bugs Life in what he called “almost biblical times”.
The man was escorted from within Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, down Grand Avenue and towards Echo Lake before being taken into a backstage area to allow for processing of his trespass warning. Even though the man was disruptive to those around him, even going so far as to calling Walt Disney World “North Korea”, the video shows Disney Security Cast Members remaining professional throughout the encounter.
Security managers said that the man was first approached by a Cast Member asking him to wear a mask. When he refused, an area leader was called over to speak with the man and it escalated from there, eventually leading the man to go live on social media to document his trespass from Disney World.
Walt Disney World security managers requested that the man be trespassed for refusing to follow posted park rules, and the man was eventually served a trespass warning by the Orange County Sheriff who escorted the man backstage. The Sheriff noted that because the man is trespassed, he would be eligible for arrest should he return before the trespass is rescinded.
Throughout the live stream, the man incorrectly cited the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the HIPAA privacy act. Contrary to what the man said during the live stream, the ADA does not provide any sort of blanket exemption to a mask mandate. The United States Department of Justice said “the ADA does not provide a blanket exemption to people with disabilities from complying with legitimate safety requirements necessary for safe operations”. Disney has maintained that each and every guest and Cast Member must wear a mask while on Walt Disney World property.
The Walt Disney World website lists multiple safety procedures in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but here’s what is says about masks:
(snipped for length, info was pulled from WDW website)

Here at BlogMickey.com, we’ve praised Disney for their ability to adapt new rules and regulations as health officials advise. We’re glad that they are enforcing the face mask rule to ensure the safety of their guests and Cast Members.

if you don’t want to wear a mask don’t go. It’s as simple as that.

And that's what practically everyone else is doing. No one is going. Theme parks will never ever get back to profitable attendance levels with mask mandates. SeaWorld just layed off 2,000 workers due to falling revenues. To add insult to injury, SeaWorld changed it's severance policy so the layed off workers don't even get much money.

People say these mandates could go into the summer of next year, even if a vaccine is out. Not sure some of these companies are going to make it. Some of the cruise lines will definitely go under. Carnival just announced it is selling 18 ships.

its true some people are not going because you have to wear a mask. Some people are not going because they are scared. Some people can’t go or has a 14 day mandatory quarantine.

Believe it or not, some of the people going right now are only comfortable going because of the mask mandate.

Masks are not keeping people away. Covid is keeping people away. Limited experiences are keeping people away. Personal situations like unemployment and furloughs are keeping people away. You really think it’s just the mask mandate?

The threat of COVID and the limited park hours/experiences are what's keeping me away, though I have thought about it. If there were no mask mandate though I wouldn't even consider it!

We were at WDW in July. I can remember when me and my family went for about 3 hours without a mask. Cast members didn't say a word to me about it either. I was walking around, talking to other people without mask and not a word from anyone. We put our mask back on once we left the pool :)

I agree. Of course there are some people who won't visit while masks are mandated, but there are also people, like myself, who would cancel my trips if they lifted the mask mandate. Covid and limited experiences are keeping my sister and her family away even though they have annual passes.

I think its pretty safe to say the number of people not going because of masks and other restrictions outnumbers those that go because of them.

For most people, the restrictions and loss of experiences are simply not worth it considering the price of admission.

I seriously doubt though that if Disney were to return to business as usual with no restrictions and full operation that they would suddenly be crowded. I would definitely stay away!

Mask mandate is the reason we canceled out wdw trip and will not schedule another trip until it is made optional. We also canceled a trip to Disney Hilton Head resort because of mask mandate when just walking around resort outside. Also will not fly if forced to wear mask.

Add me to the group who only returned to Disney because of mask mandate AND what I see to be a strict enforcement of it. Could not be happier with it and have been 3x since re-opening because of it when I was honestly completely on the fence about going back at first until I researched current ops and experiences extensively.

Yeah, I've thought about it and I do feel like Disney is doing it correctly and I would feel pretty safe in teh parks. I'm not so sure about the air travel though.

Also, I dig your profile pic!

I can appreciate the fact that Disney is enforcing the mask rule. I don't like wearing one but I will wear one wherever it's required and I won't try to circumvent the rule. They need to keep throwing people out and then more will comply. Now to enforce the line cutting, smoking and vaping with the same harsh penalty.

Trespass is apparently the word of the day for the article author, lol. I am of course only speculating (which will probably get me in hot water) but I would guess the individual has issues unrelated to a political statement/belief or Covid (or China) :(
