Man sues Disneyland after getting stuck on 'Small World'

 that is what I thought when I saw the title. Then it made me wonder if they turn off the song if they stop the ride.

We got stuck on the POC once. They did turn the music off after about 5 minutes. They turned the lights on a few minutes after that.

Valid cause of action imo...just having to listen to that song for 40 straight minutes would cause me severe emotional distress and should be worth punitives or treble damages at a minimum. I'm stressed now just thinking about it. :lmao:

Did anyone read this part?

"Martinez told employees that he needed to get off the ride immediately, but he wasn't able to leave until the ride started up again and went to the dock exit, he said. A nurse met him there, took him across the park to a first-aid station and called paramedics. The nurse gave Martinez blood-pressure medicine, as well.

Disney sent Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse to perform for Martinez at first aid.

"It was like insult to injury," Martinez said."

What bothers me is he complains that an ambulance wasn't called immediately, but they had a nurse waiting there for him. And why would he complain that Disney sent MM and MM to visit him? I kinda think that was a nice way to apologize for what he went through.

I understand he may have been scared or what not, but it sounds like they did everything they could. I don't see what they could really change, other than putting ramps everywhere in the ride.

:rolleyes1 That actually happened to me at WDW in the mid 80's. My cousin and I were stuck motionless for 45 minutes while the damn kids kept dancing and singing!!!:headache: I have not been on the ride since that day (23 trips to WDW since). I have vowed to ride it next week with the DW since it's her first trip to DLR. Please don't break down!!

If you don't want to hear the multicultural song.........hint.........Don't get on Small World. It's really just that simple.

My Dad was a fiberclass worker at DL when they put in the ride - he worked on the original forms for the boat canal. 8 hours a day they played the song while he was in there working for few days because they were choreographing the dolls! He won't go near the ride.

On the other hand - after hearing Richard Sherman sing it at Destination D23 in a slower tempo - after describing it as a 'prayer for peace' - I have re-discovered my childhood love for the song.

As for the suit? Crazy. They told us at d23 that the People Mover could never be brought back because they would have to have emergency exit stairs every few yards to comply with standards now. Seems like that's what this guy expects in Small World.

First off time is relative. I have had family members yell at us when we got on scene that it took twenty minutes for us to get there. Even though the times show we were on scene 4 minutes after 911 was called. Did he actually time it or was he just guessing.

Second, there was a Disney Nurse on scene with him? And yet he wanted them to take an ambulance and an engine out of service to 'rescue' him off an amusement ride? It would be one thing if he was fifty feet off the ground on the Matterhorn with the Yeti yelling at him. But sitting in his wheelchair on It's a Small World?

Please.

What if there were no more Disneyland because they could not prepare for every possibility? That would be so sad! Although, if the medical need was indeed legitimate and the CM's failed to call for help that could be a liability for them. High blood pressure can be a very serious problem if it spikes. I say the waiting: no big deal. But the medical part: May be a big deal.

My question is how was this forty minutes broken up? are we talking forty minutes from time ride gets stuck to his removal fromt he ride, or are we saying forty minutes from the rest of the boat being evacuated and hes just sitting there for that long? Because I have a really hard time believeing that attendants just let him sit in the boat for 40 minutes. Did they just like take all the able bodied folk off the ride and then just walked away from him like they needed to figure out how to get him off? :confused3 Seriously doubt thats what happened. Secondly I dont buy the blood pressure thing being Disneys fault, if he felt he needed medical attention did he say so? Cause I again have a hard time believe that castmembers ignored pleas for medical attention. Nor do I beleive that Castmemebers are psychic and know that a guest has spiked blood pressure with out being told so. It seems to me hes just taking advantage of the situation.

...sorry that went a little lengthy.
