Man driving on suspended license on court zoom call

Like TV stations on slow news day sending a crew to traffic court, and then following someone who just had their license suspended. They walk to their car, and start to drive off when the Reporter asks them why they are driving.

Quite common. Many defendants appearing in court for traffic violations or unrelated minor matters are found to have driven there without valid licenses and then get into further trouble. And it’s always somebody else’s fault.

When I was a bailiff, it happened all the time where someone would appear before the judge for driving on a suspended license and we would look out the courtroom window and watch them get in their car and drive off. I think we should have posted a sign in the parking lot to remind them to at least park around the corner where we couldn't see them.

I just started watching some of Judge Simpson’s videos a few weeks ago. He seems fair but tough and has some interesting people show up in front of him.

I loved the look on the driver’s face when he realized what was happening.

Clearly not the brightest bulb on the tree. His court appearance seemed to relate to driving with a suspended license. His lawyer sounded like she was trying to get the charges dropped, but the audio was somewhat choppy. Did he think the judge would not notice he was driving his car?................the guy in the car acted surprised that anyone noticed he was driving............and now is going to jail.........LOL.

I think in some states it is also illegal to be on a video call while driving. I know that cars with built-in entertainment systems are not allowed to operate in the front seat while the car is in motion.

This is likely taken from court cam (or will be on court cam soon). If you watch that show it's full of these types of situations, some I've even seen where the attorney quickly talks with their client and suddenly they are in the passenger seat...well that's just too obvious. That judge is frequently on the snippets shown on court cam and he is often having dumbfounded expressions for people's rationales.

Video hearings have spawned an entirely knew genre of unbelievable moments. Judges here have to insist people participating in hearings pull over and park on a regular basis. It's incredible how many attorneys attempt to participate while driving.

Defense attorney was clearly hoping to just push forward and hope the Judge wouldn't connect the dots. I know when this came out the other day there was a pool betting whether or not he did in fact turn himself in or simply absconded. Someone was going to check on the outcome but I haven't heard what the result was.
