A 44-year old man has died after riding
Expedition Everest
at Disney's Animal Kingdom today. The man, who has not yet been publicly identified, was unresponsive and unconscious when his ride vehicle returned to
the unload area sometime this morning. Disney called in Reedy Creek emergency services and the man was taken to the Celebration Hospital, where he was
pronounced dead.

Disney officials said the ride was inspected this morning and was operating properly, according to an Orlando Sentinel report. Right now, of course, the
roller coaster is closed until Disney officials reconfirm the ride's status. A spokesperson said that they offer the family their deepest condolences and
promised to offer assistance.

No further information is availabe at this time, but, go to OrlandoSentinel.com for what I am sure will be updates to this very sad story.

On a sidenote: Orlando had a fairly cold morning today, perhaps that played a minor part in his death. I personally didn't think it was possible for a person
to die while riding this ride and again was extremely shocked to hear this news.

There are many conditions that could cause a sudden death in a 44-year-old. Previously undiagnosed high blood pressure leading to a stroke, an abdominal aortic aneurysm causing an aortic dissection, among others. He may not have even known he was at risk. The ride also may not have even been a factor, some conditions would have done the same if he had been sitting on a bench resting.

So very sad. I doubt we will ever know exactly the cause, since usually they just report it was a "pre-existing condition" in the media.

I feel awful for his family. Such a tragic thing right before the holidays and on vacation, no less. :guilty:

While I was not on the ride with this gentleman I was at the park during that time and the information we received was that he had a heart attack. He was supposedly still alive when the ride pictures were taken. There are many many things that could have played a role in his death and the basic answer is that it was his time to go.
I am such a Disney fan that I hope when it is my time to go I can die on a WDW ride:) What a way to go, doing what I love the most!!!!!
