Man (and woman) VS DDP May 2012 Photo Food Review

Arist Palette

Following this meal, Henry went downhill which resulted in him throwing up on the bus on the way back to the hotel....I am deeply sorry for anyone that witnessed it. They had to evacuate the bus for a deep clean :omg::omg::omg: We can laugh about it now but I felt really sorry for him.

Anyway we went back to the villa and I put Henry to bed (he was fine by the next day, I dont think it was food related, probably just a 24 hour bug he picked up).

I then moved into the sofa bed in the living room and went over to Artist Pallette to get some dinner. I had avoided eating here since we arrived as the set up is a bit strange and overly complicated.

I ordered the cordon bleu panini with saratoga chips.

This isnt a panini - its a grilled sandwich? It wasnt very nice tbh, it had some cheap chicken in it and too much mustard. The saratogs chips were nice though!

For dessert I found the find of the trip. A box of strawberries with cream yum!! I got these a few times, they were really nice I never found them anywhere else. You could also use them for a snack credit

We have got an ADR for Yak and Yeti in August. I'm really looking forward to it. Must admit, your sweet and sour chicken looked nice. I was planning to have the ribs but not sure if I will now after reading about Henry's downhill slide after eating them :rotfl:

One of my favourite snacks is hte apple slices with caramel dip. I hardly ever eat fruit when we are on holiday but it is always a really nice change from sweet stuff and chocolate.

Just caught up with your food review. Loving reading these as they will help with our summer trip :)

I was going to ask how big the treats were... then I saw the last photo :worship: They look like they are as big as a hand :)

Haha yes they are huge! Happy planning!

I honestly dont think it had anything to do with the food - it was all too quick to be related :scared::crazy2::blush:

Artist Palette (again!)

After a quiet pool morning we went back to Artist Palette for some lunch. We shared the cheese flatbread, which was tasty and really cheesy, much nicer than the one at the Polynesian.

229.jpg

We got a dessert each I had the worms and dirt which was chocolate pudding with jelly worms and oreo cookies sprinkled on the top. I was nice but a bit tasteless

228.jpg

Henry had the smarties cookie, this was really nice and fresh :)

230.jpg

Seashore Sweets

After a round of mini golf (I got beat boo!) we went to Seashore Sweets and shared a blue raspberry slushie for a snack credit. This was yummy, and again I got brain freeze :omg:

231.jpg

Yorkshire County Fish Shop

I always avoid here and places like Raglan Road as I am on holiday we don't like eating english things? Bit like going on holiday and going to an irish bar? But we had a craving for fish and chips so wandered off to get some and sat in France to eat them

I was a bit suspicious about what fish it was as they are just described as "fish", but they were ok a huge portion we should have just shared. The "fish" had a stronger taste than haddock or cod which was offputting. The "chips" were nice, and I liked having vinegar back.

232.jpg

We turned down the dessert, they were a sugar cookie. I more turned these down on principle as they looked dull and I have never seen them in the UK before?? The Allears menu says they are shortbread, if so they so they should be called it!

Right I will get off my soapbox now......

Artist Palette

Another pool day and more visits to Artist Palette...

Henry got the cheese flatbread - again good

238.jpg

I got the special of the day the chilli hot dog, it was huge much bigger than the hot dogs elsewhere and also the chilli was much nicer

237.jpg

We got a Mickey's ice cream cookie sandwich, a classic. The cookie ice cream in the middle is yummy!

233.jpg

We also got more strawberries yum!

The Strawberries and cream is a great find :)
Hope we can fine this and other alternatives for snack credits elsewhere :goodvibes

Storybook Treats

I had spied these on the disney food blog as great snack credits, so during an evening in Magic Kingdom we sought these out

We were served by a lovely castmember from Sheffield who was earning her ears :)

We both got the hot fudge brownie sundae, Henry got vanilla ice cream I got chocolate and vanilla swirl. They were amazing and had the Main Street fresh bakery brownie in them - YUM!!!!

When were eating them people actually asked where they were from as they looked soo good.

Possibly the best snack credit ever ;)

Really enjoying your reviews! Thanks for taking the time to share!

Artist Palette

We usually just ate cereal or cinnamon rolls in the villa for breakfast, but as we had credits to use and would be up early to do the Toystory Mania fastpass run we went to Artist Palette for breakfast

Henry got the yoghurt granola with strawberries and I got mickey waffles. I love mickey waffles! A great quick breakfast

Starring Rolls

Henry wasn't hungry but I knew I had to get a snack from here

I got a banana split, it was lush, and quite light. This was delicious and they serve the same giant sandwiches as the main street bakery

I am enjoying the pics and the details!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

great reviews Gem. :)

Sometimes restaurants are empty and you have to wait, due to lack of staff.
They probably had to get someone in, who wasnt too familiar with the restaurant-thats probably why your server was rubbish.
its a shame as many others seem to enjoy the restaurant.

cant wait to read more :goodvibes

Liberty Tree Tavern

I have always wanted to go here, I am not sure why we never did! Liberty Square is also my second favourite land in Magic Kingdom (after Main Street!)

I loved the theming of the restaurant and again we had great service.

I went for the New England Pot Roast... Our Tavern Keeper's Favorite - braised beef in a cabernet wine and mushroom sauce served with mashed potatoes and garden vegetables $17.99 this was a last minute choice and change of mind (due to the mash!). It was delicious there was loads of beed and it was so tender. Henry was very jealous....

252.jpg

Henry had the angus chuck burge, he enjoyed but later wished he had got something a bit more interesting

253.jpg

For dessert Henry got the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake - vanilla cake with a gooey toffee filling, vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce $7.49. He loved it! It was too sweet for me though!

255.jpg

I got the Martha Washington chocolate fudge cake. I really enjoyed this the cake was very fresh and light but with a nice chocolate taste. It was a huge slice as well, it was much nicer than it looks!

254.jpg

We really enjoyed this lunch and will be back! I would also like to do the dinner as well

I thought I was being too harsh, but I have had a week to think about it and it was awful.......:confused3 We really enjoyed it before, and everyone else with other servers seemed to be having a great time!

Trail Ends Restaurant

Right I have no photos of this, as tbh we were both a bit scared of the people around us...

This came recommended to us and menu of fried chicken, chilli, pulled pork, baked potato bar sounded fab!

There was nothing really wrong with the food, its was fine the fried chicken was really nice. There was meant to be a carving station but they didnt have anything, and when I asked the chef just shugged his shoulders and walked off. All the liquid food had a sticky film over it was it had sat there too long.

The restaurant itself was a bit grim, I know the theme is rustic but it just felt really basic and the cutlery, table etc was dirty. The servers were a bit strange and just stared at the guests from the serving area. Henry described one of them as being a potential serial killer which probably is a bit harsh.....

The table next to us didnt use cutlery just their fingers to eat everything. They also had desserts and mains mixed in the same plate and ate them together :omg:

The other table were very loud and were having a not very family friendly conversation about how they were going to go back to the trailer and she wanted to get her knees and elbows roughed up tonight :omg::omg::omg:

They then got the chef to come out and applauded him over how it was the best meal they had ever had and it was 5* cuisine, and then asked if they could get their meals for free :d: when the chef said no they said they werent moving and they should get a wheelbarrow to get them out?!!!!

We left after about 25 mins. I don't know how to describe it, but the place had no atmosphere and felt like the film "Wrong Turn". I really like Wilderness Lodge but I don't think Fort Wilderness is for us

When we walked out we both burst out laughing we both knew what each other was thinking but couldnt discuss it. It was an experience I will leave it as that!

Sleepy Hollow

I really wanted to try a funnel cake so off we went to Sleepy Hollow. I got one with cinnamon sugar on the top. It was nice....but not as nice as I was expecting it really needed the sugar on the top to sweeten it up. They are huge we only managed half of one!

If I wasnt on the DDP I would have paid more and got the one with strawberries and cream ;)

I'm loving the reviews. Thank you for posting them.

I am sorry you didn't enjoy Trails End. It was one of my sons favorites and was the first on his list of must do's for our August trip.

I'm hoping you just caught it on an off night and it won't continue to be that way.

Can't wait to see the rest of your reviews.
