Man (and woman) VS DDP May 2012 Photo Food Review

Karamell-Küche

After trying to walk off the hot dog, what better to top it off with than a milk chocolate strawberry at Karamell-Küche? We both had one of these, and they were really tasty. I love chocolate strawberries and these were huge!

There were so many other treats to try I regret not going back and having more! I really wanted to try the popcorn!

Yours is the first positive review I've read on Turf Club.

We love those Raspberry Lemonade Slush drinks at MK :)

Glad I am not the only one!

Hope this helps :)

yes, thanks!!! how have i never noticed the cheshire cafe??
that looked YUMMY!!

as does kouzina - i'm adding it to my ADR list!

and i'm going to look for the touchscreens - and tell DD to look when she's there this summer....she loves pecos bill and the toppings bar there!

House of Blues

No photos for this review I am afraid , when we arrived we were told there was a private event and they had booked out the main restaurant. I was disapointed as I was looking forward to theming of the restaurant. Instead we were sat in a side room which was ok but a bit dull. On a side note we werent allowed to use the toliets in the main restaurant as it was booked out grrrrr.

I didnt take photos as we were in the middle of a load of people. I had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken - fried chicken marinated in buttermilk, adobo spice, served with Yukon gold garlic mashed potatoes and citrus champagne slaw $17.99

It was tasty but very heavy. I has so much chicken I didnt put a dent in it. After the first piece I was full! The mash was yummy. I would get this again but you could split its soooo huge

Henry had the Juicy Lucy - certified Angus beef and applewood bacon patty stuffed with cheese, topped with crispy pickled jalapenos and chipotles mayo on a potato bun $14.99, he really enjoyed it but thought it needed more jalapenos!

I was sooo full I just vanilla ice cream for dessert, it was nice ice cream but dull (but I knew it would be!). Henry had the key lime pie which he loved (he is a big key lime pie fan!)

We liked house of blues I would go back, I was just disapointed we were stuck in a side room. I have no idea who hired the place maybe a VIP?

Tusker House Breakfast

Only one photo here, but we really enjoyed this breakfast. We are not buffet fans at all, but I do like the occassional brekfasts buffet  it was well organised the characters were great and we had fab service. We both loved the theming of the restaurant. My only disapoint was that I couldnt find any breakfast pizza!

The mickey waffles were fab!

Ohana

I totally failed to take photos here - I only managed one of the bread :omg:

I think we were just too excited and dove straight in! I think everyone knows the drill here, and we love it! For the third time we had a lovely table overlooking magic kingdom and the castle :) Service was fab, interestingly we got given the steak first, I always thought you got given it last so you would be too full to eat it :d: The pork was my least favourite it was too well cooked for my taste, oh and we loved the wontons this trip previously they were too heavy, I think they have shrunk and they taste much better!

The bread pudding was delicious as always - but later in the trip we did find a better one ;)

We will be back!!

We loved that raspberry lemonade slushie too - had never noticed the little cafe before. Very pleasant place to stop for a drink.

Leaning Palms

Again no photos as we were at Typhoon Lagoon and didnt take a camera. I had the hot dog (again) it was tasty! Henry had the chilled chicken wrap, this quite poor the chicken was like playdoh plastic chicken and it didnt taste too good.

We both had the fruit cups for dessert which were tasty!

Great reviews :thumbsup2

Yours is the first I have read that has made me want to visit Kouzina - I have never really fancied it :goodvibes

Mrs D - we are on the same wavelength tonight - I have one reservation to fill and wanted a Boardwalk area one and that 'taster trio' may have made my decision!

Pizza Delivery

Finally back to some photos! We were very tired after a day flinging ourselves down slides at Typhoon Lagoon so at the last minute decided to stay (it helped that it started raining so the decision was made ). We got pizza delivery using a table service credit each. This is a really bad deal on the DDP, but since it is free and we were struggling to keep up the credits it didnt matter to us!

The food was delivery in about 40 mins (I believe it comes from Port Orleans), and there was a choice of toppings we went with half and half and cheese and veggie. You got a dessert each (or you could get breadsticks) and we got a big bottle of sprite.

Love the box so cute!

The pizza was good, nice and fresh and hot!

We got a carrot cake and chocolate brownie for dessert. We couldnt eat all of this (it would easily be a meal for more than 2 people), so had pizza for breakfast the next day  I also put this brownie in the fridge and it tasted much nicer chilled

Sanaa

We were really looking forward to this as we had such a great time here previously!

First of all we were given a buzzer and had to wait about 20 mins, when we walked in the restaurant about a third of the tables were empty :confused2

Our server was hopeless she seemed to have no clue about what was going on (all the others seemed really good though). She kept on asking if we would want seperate bills, I laughed the first time and made a joke and said we might be married but were not that bad but she kept on saying it :erm:

I ordered the tandoori chicken naan open sandwich which was lovely, just as nice as the last time I had it (but I did notice you no longer get a side of rice, I didnt touch it before though as there was too much food). It doesnt look like much in this photo but there was big chunks of chicken and the naan was lovely and fresh Yum!

Henry had the mango smoothie which he loved

199.jpg

He also had the spicky durban chicken, beef short ribs and the five grain rice he had before. He said it didnt taste anything like the last time :( there was no spice and it was really plain. I think they must have toned it down sadly :(

201.jpg

In the middle of eating the server comes over and asks what dessert we wanted. I politely said could we finish our mains before we decide, and she asked again if we wanted a seperate bill?

By this time we had been here nearly 2 hours, and we just decided to leave we were sick of the slow service and this was eating into valuable Animal Kingdom time! I asked for the bill (since she had asked me so many times I thought this could be the one thing she got right). I told her I was on the DDP and gave her my card, she said ok and swipped it and brought a reciept which I thought was for a tip. I left a tip (not a bad one I couldnt be bothered with the confrontation over it), and she then accused me of not paying for the meal??? I said I am on the DDP, she said she didnt know and would have to put it all through again. What did she do with my card then???

It then took ages for her to bring my change from the tip, and she said we needed to order dessert as we were on the ddp. I said I didnt want too (and tbh I didnt want to give her anymore of a tip!) and we left.

It was a really strange experience, we were like did this all just happen??! I really want to go back though as I love the restaurant and the views of the animals. I think maybe you just have to ask for more spice and avoid that server!

Main Street Bakery

We both had the same things from the main street beakery, the turkey and cheese and sandwiches, these were lovely and fresh. WE should have just got one to share though as they were huge!

We both also got the AMAZING chocolate brownie, one was with walnuts and the other was pure brownie. These are delicious we get them every trip. They are huge too like a slab of brownie all moist and delicious, you can only seem to get them at the main st bakery, as part of the fudge brownie sundae at the plaza and at storybook treats in fantasyland (more on that later :d:)

It was all good, we got takeaway boxes for the brownies and munched on them the next day as well

Oh my goodness, is that Brownie really as big as it looks :)

Great food review :flower3:

Goofys Snack Company

As you have seen we didnt use many of the snacks for treats, we did get a couple of ice lollys but mostly we used the snacks for drinks in the parks, bad use of credits I know!

We decided we doing badly so wandered to Goofys to get us some treats!

I got a cake pop, because they look so cute!! Mine was a vanilla cake pop, with marshmallow ears all covered in chocolate. The cake isnt really like cake its really heavy like fudge, I couldnt eat much of it. It was a heartattack on a stick! The chocolate was really nice!

203.jpg

Henry got the rice crispy mickey wrapped in chocolate and peanut butter finger. One word he used to describe it was awsome! It took 3 days to eat :omg::omg:

Just caught up with your food review. Loving reading these as they will help with our summer trip :)

I was going to ask how big the treats were... then I saw the last photo :worship: They look like they are as big as a hand :)

Garden Grill

I wasnt really looking forward to this on the day we went, as I was tired from too much sun :cool2: . I am so glad we went though!

We had a bit of a wait for a table as the restaurant was mega busy, they need more seats for people waiting!

We did get shown to table on the 2nd floor of the revolving restaurant, which we enjoyed, it moved slowly but constantly. Our server was great he brought out the salad, and bread with mable butter

209.jpg

The salad was lovely, it comes from the living with the land ride. It was lovely and fresh with a light dressing, and had green beans, lettace, cucumber, eggs, tomato with bacon bits on top

The bread was lovely and warm with the creamy maple butter

The family style platter then came out, we asked for the fish to be removed (I am a bit weird with fish). No problem at all!

214.jpg

The beef and mash was yummy as ever, and the chicken had a savoury bread pudding with it that tasted like stuffing too me.

We were asked if we wanted another platter, but we declined as we wanted to save room for dessert

The fruit cobbler was brought out with whipped ice cream, the fruit was raspberry and cherry, and was yummy! The photo makes it look quite small but it was quite large!

215.jpg

Obviously when we were eating the characters came round, who were all fab  We both really enjoyed this meal and the food was much better than I expected for a character meal, it was the best food for a character meal we have been too, and I much prefer family style over buffet :)

Yak and Yeti

Another old favourite! Henry was feeling poorly this day, not sure what happened but he was feeling really ill after Everest (this is from the man who once did it 5 times in a row!).

He still wanted to go as loved it last time (this proved to be an error!)

Henry had the Baby Back Ribs - slow-roasted ribs, hoisin BBQ sauce, chicken fried rice, sweet chili slaw $25.99. He didnt each much of it, and declared them as just ok, wasnt a big fan of marinade but tbh he should have just had something really plain.

222.jpg

I had the berry cherry limeade to drink, it was really nice

220.jpg

I then had the sweet and sour chicken

223.jpg

I had this the last time we went and its tasty and not too heavy

For dessert we both had the sorbets, they were just as good as I remember, there was raspberry, lemon and mango

224.jpg

We both really like Yak and Yeti the theming in the restaurant is really cool, and we had great service. We sat upstairs which was much quieter than downstairs :)
