Mama Melrose's or Hollywood & Vine?

I am looking at our ADRs (again!!) and rethinking our 2nd HS day. I would love to hear other's opinions about which restaurant would be better for lunch: Mama Melrose's or Hollywood & Vine?

We have 2 boys (8 & 9) who are a bit old for Playhouse Disney, but I know they would know the characters...

Agreed..I like Mamma Melrose better than H&V..I've taken Becky there for bkfst with the characters...but not because of the food!

Definitely Mama Melrose. We ate at H&V several years ago and it was definitely the worst meal we have ever had a Disney and will not be going back. Not sure if it has changed since but it will not be on our list any time in the future.

I have not been to MM, but H and V was the worst food I have ever eaten at Disney world.

Wow- that's 4 for 4 for Mama Melrose's. That is the one that I have, but I was a little nervous since the reviews haven't been great...

H & V was absolutely dreadful. The food was so bad I ended up eating off the kids buffet because the food was better there. We would never eat there again unless they did something spectacular where we didn't care about the food, like a Villan character meal.

Thought you should know that even though I don't recommend this place. Worst Character meal we've had.

Ok, it's official-I will keep the MM ressie since 8 out of 8 DISsers recommend it! I honestly expected a different outcome...

We have done MM for lunch a few times and like it very much but I would prefer Sci Fi or 50's PT over MM

We will never ever set foot in H&V again.....it was disgusting and the service was the worst we ever had.

I have never ate at MM but we did eat at HV this past August and it was TERRIBLE. We will never eat there again!

We are not the pickiest eaters in the world, and H&V is the ONLY restaurant in Disney that we say NEVER again to. It is THE worst meal we have on property. We have had several meals that were "OK" at other places, but this place really was the worst one. Hopefully they will improve their lunch and dinner offerings, but when we went it wasn't good at all, and from what I read on here each year is has not seemed to improve much!

I have not tried MM yet, but we are having dinner there Monday night. From reviews I have read, I am not expecting gourmet food, but it sounds like it is a decent place to eat so I am sure we will be happy.

We went there last month for lunch with low expectations, but wanted to see the Playhouse Disney characters there. Pleasantly surprised at the wonderful food, everything was delicious and matched the buffets at Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's.

(Maybe if you don't like the food at CP or CM then you also think H&V is bad. )

Also, the service we had at H&V was fantastic - very attentive, kept sodas filled, and brought coffee to go at the end when that was not expected. Really happy with our experience there.

I like Mama Melrose too, although my experience there has been mixed. In 2008 the food and service were fantastic. In 2009, service was excruciatingly slow.

Hollywood & Vine is on the list with Whispering Canyon Cafe that you couldn't pay us to eat at ever again. Filthy restaurant--tables, floor, glasses, etc., bad food all the way around and bad service.

We've done Mama Melrose a number of times. While not great Italian food, we've never had a bad meal here and will return again.
