Mama Melrose's or Coral Reef

Which would you perfer. I have been wanting to try Coral Reef for years. With all of the bad reviews I am wondering if I made the right choice. If I didn't do CR I would do MM. What would you choose?

HIghly recommend CR, amazing experience and the food was good! CR is one of only two restaurants we are repeating this trip. Have fun!!!

We really enjoyed our meal at Coral Reef, and the kids LOVED the atmosphere and all the fish! The only downside is that it took a looooong time...around 2 hours.

We LOVED Coral Reef !! It's a "must-do" now for our family. We asked to wait for a table right next to the tank ....totally worth waiting for !!! We had a huge sea turtle park himself directly next to our DD ! (she kept telling everyone that Crush wanted some supper!!)

We thought the food was outstanding and our server had the patience of a saint. (the table of 12 next to us was horrific to this poor man!! but he never lost his cool once) I would totally recommend you go here !!

I gave up on CR a few years ago after one too many horrible meals there.

Maybe it has changed, but they would have to pay me to eat there again.

We've eaten at both and while the atmosphere is neat in Coral Reef, the food was not good. On the flip side, Mama Melrose was a really great meal for us. The atmosphere while nice and cozy isn't as interesting, but the food was far better.

at Coral Reef, I would go to Mama Melrose's. We have never had a bad meal there and service was first rate.

Last time we ate at Coral Reef was the third strike as the food and service was sub par. That and the prices have doubled in the past ten years..

IMHO-if you want environment and atmosphere-go with Coral Reef. The huge fish tank is awesome and the decore has a wonderful theme.
If you want good/decent food-go with Mama Melrose. We have been there 3 times (a 4th coming this Sept) with excellent results each time. We have eaten pastas and pizzas there-both tasty.

I've been to Coral Reef twice for lunch and twice for dinner and loved all four meals. I've been to Mama Melrose once and am not at all eager to return. I think it was the worst meal I've ever had at Disney and a contender for the worst "Italian" food I've ever had anywhere.

We have had many meals at Coral Reef and have never had a bad meal. The service can be a bit slow...but the food has always been very good to excellent.
We did the F!Package in May @ Mama Melrose - I totally agree - worst meal at Disney and contender for worst "Italian" food ever.

LOVED Coral Reef. It is one of the must do repeats from last year. Granted, we got a front center table in front of the aquarium, so that helps, but the food ws good too. Not the best food, but in the top 1/2 of the 8 or so sit down meals we ate.

Mama Melrose had my favorite meal of the entire trip, the wood grilled tuna, medium rare. Awesome. The atmosphere, while nice doesn't stack up to coral reef in front of the fish tanks.

Remember, just because one family loves/hates a certain restaurant doesn't mean yours will. That's why you have to take these reviews with a grain of salt. I suggest you look at the menus online, take into account the atmosphere, and go from there. For example, I have heard nothing but really bad about Tony's in MK, but my family enjoyed it! And there are families who really dislike the quality of food at 'Ohana but that is probably our favorite restaurant in all of Disney. People loooove Citrico's but DH and I were very disappointed. You won't really know for sure until you try for yourself.

My vote goes to Coral Reef. I love the look of the place and I thought the food was very good.

I would choose Coral Reef. We have had some so so dinners there and some good ones. The tanks are awesome! I wish they had a larger selection on the menu to choose from, but at least the food we had was good. It can get quite loud in there, and service was spotty. But, it sure beats our experience at MM. We only dined there once, but the food was terrible and so was the service. So much so, that I have no interest on giving it a second try.

So funny to read all of the various and contradictory posts! We haven't eaten at Coral Reef, but we HAVE eaten at Mama Melrose's and won't hurry back. The food was average and our service was not good.

I have read many a negative review on these boards about Coral Reef, but I would say that at least the atmosphere would be interesting and different. Mama Melrose's is just like any generic Italian restaurant's decor.

We have eaten at Mama Melrose twice and WILL NOT go back. Hated it both times. The service was not good and the food was worse. We would not go there again if it were FREE.

We have eaten at Coral Reef several times and would go there again. Love the atmosphere and the service and the food was very good. All of us enjoyed ourselves and got a very nice meal.
