Mama Melrose or Hollywood and Vine

We are hoping to do the Fantasmic dinner package, and choosing between these two. We have two other buffets planned during our week and we all like Italian food so I am leaning towards Mama...is that a decent choice?

Mama Melrose is one of my favorite places in Hollywood Studios. The food is decent but most certainly alot better than Hollywood & Vine. I would go with Mama Melrose.

While I don't think the food is wonderful at Mama's IMO it is much better than Hollywood and Vine.

Which would you pick for dinner and what time is a good pick to see the lighting ceremony? I have done the fantasmic package so am hoping to see the Osborne lights while fantasmic is going on. Does anyone know if the lights are on by around in dec?

Mama Melrose for sure! H&V's dinner buffet is not good.

Have given Mama Melrose too many chances and each meal was worse than the last. We usually eat at the Boardwalk or Swan/Dolphin and boat back to DHS b/c we find the food there at the sit downs pretty poor.

We tried H&V back in 2005 and it was horrible so we have never been back! MM on the other hand we enjoy..I love the ambiance more than the food tho honestly.. Food is decent, I wanted to take DH to Sci FI but he wanted MM

I am not a huge fan of either of these restaurants, but if I had to pick one, I would choose Mama Melrose.

We eaten at Mama Melrose on two separate trips and enjoyed the food and restaurant both times. We are booked again in September.

I'd say go with MM since you've already booked two buffets earlier in your trip.

H&V = every man for himself. It is truly chaos in real time. I wont even go into the part about unattended children eating off of the serving spoons or other delightful things I have seen at H&V.

I'd go with Brown Derby every time for the dinner package.

We love MM. Definately go there.

Ate at H&V last year with a Fantasmic Package and hated it. It was extremely loud in the restaurant, the service was terrible, and the food was only so-so.
