Mama Melrose or Brown Derby Fantasmic package

Trying to decide between Mama Melrose and Brown Derby for the fantasmic package. Originally I had Mama Melrose, but have since had to change my plans so I now have an extra ts credit. Wondering if I want to upgrade the meal or try to fit another ts meal in. Thoughts, opinions please? TIA

It's been several years since we had a meal at the Brown Derby, but were were not that impressed with it. We did eat at mama Melrose two trips back and enjoyed it, however.

We chose the BD as part of our Fantasmic package last year. At that time,just about the entire menu was available as part of the package,so the choices were many.
We sat on the second floor,overlooking the main floor area,which we liked. We had an appetizer,entree and I remember having the grapefruit cake as dessert. We ordered high end food and knew that it would have been a much more expensive meal without the package.
We enjoyed our meal very much. The steak and duck were cooked perfectly. The servers were wonderful. It was our first time there and we would not hesitate to eat there again.

I like them both and have eaten at them both many times. If I had a choice though, I would pick the Brown Derby. Better food, service, and wine list.

Personally, I'd either sneak in another 1 TS credit (maybe the new Chef Art Smith's Homecoming restaurant at DIS Springs) or spend the precious 2 TS on something like the Yachtsman. I've enjoyed a lunch at Brown Derby OOP and watched as those who splurged on the 2 TS contended with young kids yelling & bouncing around at the tables beside them. Frankly, Brown Derby is in a theme park with many youngsters as patrons. Good food but the atmosphere can be hectic.

If it were just these two options, I'd pick Brown Derby. We ate lunch there in 2014 and really enjoyed it. The best thing we had at Mama Melrose was steak and I have a hard time recommending an Italian place where the best thing was the steak. Still, if it means trying another good 1 credit meal like Sanaa, I'd say stick with Mama Melrose.

We ate at MM for the first time last Saturday. I was beyond impressed with how good it was. We all split a flat bread and I had the fish. While, like PP, maybe that's not a good sign for an Italian place all that mattered to me was that it was good. Very good. Like one of the top 5 meals out of all our meals at Disney (over 75% of the restaurants). DH has the Chicken Parm and he loved it.

We've eaten BD and while I liked it ok, I can't remember being super impressed with it. We haven't been in a hurry to return. There is no doubt we'll return to MM. So it would be my pick

I prefer Mama Melrose, it is a hidden gem, IMO. I don't personally see spending 2 credits on HBD. I think it would be a great idea to fit in another meal!

I haven't eaten at Brown Derby but our dinner at MM was the worst meal of our trip. I had such high hopes because I'd heard so many good things about it but the food wasn't great and I actually felt sick after eating there. Maybe we were there on an off night but I probably won't go back.
