We have an ADR @ Mama Melrose but I am thinking of switching to Hollywood & Vine for Fantasmic after hearing some of the reviews.

TIA

We always did MM and then tried H&V. We weren't that impressed at all. We're going back to MM this trip. But that's just us! :)

We really liked our dinner at Mama Melrose last July. We've made repeat Fantasmic package reservations for this July, too, because everybody (kids and parents!) had a good experience last year.

It's not gourmet at all, but it's fairly quiet and decent food.

We did H&V twice.....no more. We're going to Mama Melrose in July. H&V is Disney buffet, reminds me of Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace et al, only no characters.

Definitely MM...the food was much better!

We have never tried MM, but we're not impressed with H&V. We do, however, love Hollywood Brown Derby, and can't wait to go back during our May trip.

My DW liked it so much last year that she made sure that we made a ressie for it again this year.

We did not have high expectations for MM, but really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I know it gets a lot of negative feedback on this board sometimes, but we really had a nice time there.

:cool1:

We've been to H&V a handful of times, 2 of which were for the FDP. Since we are going to be on the DP again, I decided to make an ADR for the more expensive and slightly better reviewed MM. Now, almost every review I read about MM is that the food is blah, or not good. I am tempted to switch back to H&V, since we've never had a bad experience there, but decided to stick with MM. The main reason is that H&V has gotten tons of bad reviews here, but we continued to enjoy our annual meals there. Hopefully, MM will be the same. I don't love Italian food, but many of the choices here look delicious! I'm torn between the chicken parm, the steak, or the seafood pasta. Can anyone whose tried these recommend the best choice?

We did H&V 2.5 years ago and it was horrible. We waited almost an hour after our ADR, we sit down amongst a ton of dirty tables. The server never brought drink refills or cleared our plates...we stacked them up on the table next to us. The food was awful.

We did MM this past Dec. The food was very bland and lukewarm. We were seated right away, the server brought our drinks but no bread. We asked twice, still no bread. The salad (good) and calamari (overly breaded) were brought out and 5 minutes later the entrees were out. Dh had the chicken parm (Olive Garden is better) and I had the eggplant napoleon (not hot, no flavor and the bean ragu was hard as rocks).

So the only place DH and I will eat at in MGM is 50's Prime Time.

While i felt the atmosphere was charming @ MM, the food (other than salad & flatbread) was inedible. Can't imagine how you can mess up a plate of spaghetti; but they nailed it. Osso bucco so fatty, it was inedible - just gross (worst meal ever @ WDW); such a disappointment last Oct.

As for H&V, yep it's a buffet;) (think a poor-man's Chef Mickey's - has many of the same desserts, etc.; the pickey eaters in our group always find something good to eat from the tasty assortment). Isn't fancy, just fresh and filling.:thumbsup2 Good choice for fantasmic pkg or when you're paying OOP as opposed to the DP; reasonably priced.

We just went there last week. I had read all of the reviews and I took my chances anyway. I have to tell you I was very glad I did. I got the chicken parm. It needed a little more sauce and they were happy to bring it over. My DH got the wood grilled chicken with Pasta. It was out of this world he changed the pasta to rigatoni. Dessert was to die for. Give it a try.:thumbsup2

Our experience at H and V was that the food was better than we expected (a bit better than Chef Mickey's) but the atmosphere of the place was not so exciting. At Mama Melrose the food and service were both HORRIBLE. I've never before met a chicken parm I don't like. Even Olive Garden was significantly better than MM. My kids also really did not like MM--it's pretty hard to mess up plain noodles ;) H and V isn't a favorite for us but it's fine MM we will not go again unless they make major changes. We are very easy going and MM is the only really bad food we've had at WDW.

We really enjoyed our meal at MM and will repeat it agian in Sept. We done Hollywood and Vine once and wont go back. It was ok for us. Now we dont care for any of the buffets we have tried at wdw. I have more of a problem with them mostly due to food allergies. I'm allergic to pork, peanuts and shellfish and had a hard time finding something on the buffet at Hollywood and Vine. They do have a different variety of foods compared to your average buffet meal. Its best to try the restraunts that sound appealing to your family. Have fun!
