Made an ADR for Mama Melrose for lunch (no dinner res available) but the food seems really heavy. I would have never chosen this restaurant for lunch, but eager for rapid seating to see Fantasmic with 4 kids and two grand folk. What are your thoughts on this commitment? I'm annoyed that I'm sucked in to this $$/heavy meal just to see a show!

You don't have to have the meal package just for the show :confused3 ... you can easily go see it without the meal.

I personally like it because we like the food and think its an awesome deal with the show package. Yes the seats are "reserved" but you still have to show up half an hour early or they release them to the standby folks.

So... if you don't enjoy the food, you don't have to eat the meal to see Fantasmic! Just arrive early for show time and get in line with everyone else.

Also, you can get a FP+ for Fantasmic! too if you want to spend one of your three allotted fastpasses on it...

Granted, the Meal package seats are the middle section (and slightly better) while the FP+ seats are off to the side... but its not that big of a difference really.

I disagree. We entered the auditorium at 8:52 last night. They didn't fill in the dinner package section until after the show started.

I love Mama Melrose and almost always wat lunch there. They have pizza on the menu if you are worried about a heavy meal. (Excellent pizza I might add). We did the package one year (when it first started) and we were seated all the way to the right. We asked if we could move.

Yes, they recently changed it with the addition of FP+

The dining package seats are in the center section and the FP+ seats are in the *old* package section (the right side as you walk in)

That's wonderful that they did that. I'm merely stating the policy. It has been known to happen (and I presume more often on very packed/high crowd days) for them to release the "reserved" seats about twenty to fifteen minutes prior to the standby line. Ive heard many people lose out because they didn't arrive when they were told to. I know in the past they explain and give you the printed info that states you must be in the theatre at least twenty minutes early to claim your seats.

I'm sure there are exceptions, but id rather not give out information that could have people showing up only to find their "reserved" seats have been filled.

The tickets themselves said you could arrive as late as 8:45, so there's no way the "policy" is to release the seats 20 minutes prior to the show. There was still plenty of room when we arrived.

We had FastPass for Fantasmic last November. We were seated down front towards the center left- they were great seats! Liked this better than the dinner pkg b/c it seems as if they are limiting the restaurant choices and times. We had always done the dinner pkg in past years. Hope to do FastPass again this year - or just wait it out for seats since we've seen it so many times.
Either way you will enjoy the show.
