I tried for about four days to get PS for last Sunday for 5 of us. Finally, on Saturday, I was able to get a 5:30 (this is the last seating, though MGM closed at 9pm) for 2 tables for 2. The person said they would 'probably' be able to work out something to make it for 5. Now, we weren't interested in the Fantasmic dinner package, but no one mentioned it at any of the times we called. No problem there. So, we get to the restaurant about 5:25, and it takes them about 10 seconds to figure out where we are going to sit, because THE RESTAURANT IS ONLY 1/3 FULL. And stayed that way. This, after being told by the reservation person that the reason it was so hard to get a PS was that is was Mother's day and all the places were packed. So, while having a very nice meal, I asked the server how come. She said that reservations and I guess the park, don't want to have a lot of people for the Fantasmic program, so they limit the amount of PS they take for MM.
As you can imagine, I thought this pretty darn stupid. As I mentioned, we never asked, nor was the dinner program mentioned, so you would think that would be a primary question. when someone calls for seating. It's a shame that a restaurant sat mostly empty while probably more people than just us would have been interested in eating there

when ever we've eaten there it's always been packed! That restaurant does however, close earlier than the others in the park.

We ate lunch at Mama Melrose's in April. I called in the morning for PS and I was told that the party of 10 would be split into two tables and the only available opening was at 12:30. At 11:30 we decided to stop in the restaurant, since we were right outside, and see if we could move our reservation up. They got us right in, at one table for all 10 of us. The restaurant never filled up, but the waiter was excellent and very attentive to the whole group. The food was very good and very affordable. My DH and I split a meal and an appetizer and left full. The kids all ordered off the kids menu and had plenty to eat.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others. The menu is limited, but the food is very good. We were told by our waiter they changed the menu after 9/11, due to a decrease in business.

I was there on mother's day this week also - I had 5:10 ressies I think, so I probably saw you, lol. Anyway, I think WDW only gives out a few PS's so there are some tables available for walk ins.

In March I was at Mama Melrose's and I went into the restuarant at 11:30 a.m. I was told they had NO tables available for the rest of the day. I was bummed. Then I went to one of those PS kiosks that MGM has (where they make ressies for you) and I inquired. The girl there said I could basically pick my own time for that day. She was confused as to why I was told there were no tables available. I picked a 12:30 PS, walked into Mama Melrose's at 12:30 and went to the girl who said there were no priority seatings left. I resisted telling her off, lol.

I think it may also depend on how many servers they have working that day. I know WDW has had a lot of cutbacks to their CM staff so this may be one of the areas where they may have cutback.

Both times we were at this restaurant for dinner and lunch there it wasn't busy at all. But, I really do like it, it has become my favorite full service restaruant in MGM since they closed H&V.

Hi Jennifer,
Had I only known you were there, and a DVC member! You probably did see us, we were the only group of 5 that came in around 530, and were seated in the middle of the room. I had the pasta and sausage dish. Sound familiar now?
I asked about walk-ins when I tried to get PS during those four days and was told it was pretty much unlikely that I would get in. Sounds like the system needs some work.
Joe.

That's so funny. Well I had my DVC member backpack with me, lol. If that helps. :)

Party of 3 here and I also had the pasta and sausage dish. Yum. We were in the back of the restaurant. :)
