last cruise it rained and we skipped the saila at party on d come. This time we will have s verandah. I told the kids we would do our own party on the balcony. anyone have any ideas or something fun we can do.i might order all hands on deck cheese platter when room service resumes.

Are you on Starboard side so you can wave to the folks at Fishlips from your Verandah? And you could watch the Pilot boat pick up the harbor pilot. And the Sheriffs boat also

We seldom go up to Deck 11 anymore and tend to hang out on our Verandah and wave to the folks on the jetty and Fishlips. I order the Sailaway treat from Gifts and Amenities (my kids love those)
And enjoy the festivities from above. :)

Unless you know for sure it will rain during your ship's Sail Away after embarkation, would highly recommend you take the kids especially if they've
never been to one. Great way to start off the cruise. Bon Voyage.

We are in room 8076, so I'm not sure what side of the ship.
Thanks everyone

You are port side. If the weather is REALLY bad, they will move the sailaway party to the Atrium on Deck 3...so you can still have a good time. They usually do this in case it is lightening with heavier rains.

They moved it inside last time and we missed it so I thought it would be fun to do our own party

There are so many neat ways to celebrate sailaway!
In case of rain or (in our case we don't like the heavy crowds) there is nothing wrong with having a party on your verandah. :) The All Hands on Deck cheese platter is really good. You could also grab some cookies on Deck 11 and get some soft serve ice cream to take back to the cabin too.

We have a private sail away party too. If the kids want it, we either get food from the pool deck or room service, (DH and I usually have a drink) and we just enjoy sailing away out on the verandah!

Dolphins would be so cool.
Last time we had transportation from the resort so by the time we boarded, ate lunch real quick and did the muster station it was time to sail. I went up to meet my brother in law to say we were running late, it was raining and I think there was an announcement that they moved the party indoors. We thought let's just skip it and get situated in the room. We had the big oversized porthole room and realized we were sailing and watched out that.
This time we are trying the verandah and thought we could avoid the crowds and Chaos and do our own thing.

I've skipped the Sail Away Party the last two cruises and will be doing the same next month. I enjoy our departure from our veranda with an adult beverage and a snack from room service or the pool deck.

Sail away can be crowded, but it's not really chaos. Do you have children who like the characters? The sail away party is a good time to see the characters all together. We like to be on the top deck on the front of the ship so we can see the port as we sail away, while also being able to see the funnel vision.

More ideas for an in-room party, use the on-demand on your TV to find some good Disney songs to sing along to. It will help make the mood festive. Oh, and don't get ONE all hands on deck platter, get two or more (and ask for extra crackers) and maybe some chicken wings. Go nuts! Have fun. Bring soda or other beverages down from the drink station on the top deck.

Also, just being out on the veranda itself can be very festive, no matter which side of the ship you are on. We found at each port, many other people were out on their veranda too, making merry. You can see some of them, and interact with them. Sometimes, there will be another ship in port that you can see as well. We had fun interacting with the people on the other ships too.

Party on!

Right after the sail away party, we ran back to our room (in the aft starboard side) and waved to all the groups of people on shore. Any one who waved back we would cheer, and make a big deal out of it. There were lots of people at the restaurants and side streets watching us sail away and waved back so it was fun.

We go down to Deck 4, Starboard, midship while leaving Port Canaveral and watch the harbor pilot jump ship and wave to those of us who cheer. That's when we know we're really back at sea.
