making your own programs

I just did my programs in Illustrator. The size of the program was 1/2 a page (4.25x8). I cut all the pages with my trusty rotary paper cutter, had one of my bridesmaids punch the holes in the top, and my parents, sister, cousin, and DH assembled them with ribbon in our suite at the Grand Californian the night before the wedding...

no welcome letter, but if I had, it would have been the same way...

I would love to see some pictures too.. I was thinking of making my own as well:surfweb:

here's the crappy pic I posted on the DL brides FAQ:

anyway, you get the idea. I used one of our engagement photos on the front with our names, date, and location.

2nd page: bridal party, officiant, etc.
3rd page: ceremony schedule
4th page: explaination of the Japanese wine ceremony, "fun facts"
5th page: bubble girls and guest book attendant names, thank you's, reception info

I made my own programs and they turned out amazing! I just used microsoft word. it took me awhile to get the spacing etc. exactly how I wanted it. I can try and put a pic up later. PM me if you are interested. I also usd that velum (sp) paper as a covering and tied ribboons through the creases and they looked super cute

Yay! Good topic! My sister is doing the progams for my wedding! I'll have to send her over here to get some ideas and ask questions if necessary! :goodvibes

My husband and I made our programs too! :cutie: I drew a picture of the shape of the church where we were getting married, and my husband scanned the drawing in the computer and typed out some poems, and information that we both picked out.
I then used an exacto knife to cut out the little "churches" and I also cut the doors open, and folded them out so that it looked like you could "enter" the church.

Sorry that the picture is a bit dark looking. :)

ok, so here we go. hopefully I will explain this correctly! we used off white think paper. I don't remember if it was cardstock or not. and we used the velum paper on top. we tied blue ribbon through the sides. i wanted blue and brown but couldn't find it in the texture I wanted.

ok, here is the front:

if you pull up just the velum, you can see it is just blank paper under
100_2552.jpg

this is the next page. blank on the left, introduction on the right
100_2553.jpg

next page is all the fun stuff. order of ceremony, wedding party, etc.
100_2554.jpg

next is blank on left, and directions to reception on right

100_2556.jpg

this is the back. I just pulled up the velum to show the blank back

100_2557.jpg

back with the velum down. we wrote a little note to everyone on the back and did a tribute to our deceased grandparents, and put our new address

hoped this helped someone, let me know if there are any questions!

someone had better get some good use or ideas out of my pics. it took some effort to take, download and post! lol. ;)

Moonpie- Your churches are sooo cute :cutie: You are so talented and creative!

Heather, I really like your programs too :goodvibes I'm trying to convince my mom to make my programs the Mickey head fans. If not, I may try to do ones like yours! So, don't worry, you didn't waste your time ;)

I bought pre-printed covers, but printed specifics on it. I didn't really need to use the covers, but I really liked the design, hydranges (sp). My program was so much more than normal people do. I included poems, quotes, cute Disney facts, all in addition to the usual stuff. I think it ended up being 15 pages, 8 folded sheets of paper. We punched holes in binding, and tied a bow. I think I used a Print Shop-like program for most of it, but Word can very easily be used.

I love all the programs ya'll have posted! I am wanting to do ours with the velum over a plain white background. We are having a cinderella wedding. I have some ideas kind of but have never done this anyone willing to help out with suggestions? What types of font, where to buy the items, what to put on there, color suggestions, and anything else. The colors are pink and orange. I was thinking about putting a pink ribbon in the top thru a hole and maybe if we found orange velum paper over the white. Would that be too much? Thanks for any and all help!

Sounds pretty. You might want to use orange paper with just a white velium. Hobby Lobby has a beautiful line of Cinderella wedding stickers and embelishments that might be pretty. GL Have fun making them.

Great thread. I'll be making my programs within the next week. Heatherlynn, I loved the pics that you posted! Very informative so we could look at the inside, outside, what's underneath, etc. Thanks so much for taking the time!!
