hi,

i know this may seem really dumb but i thought i would ask....

we are booked at SSR and OKW for our stay from june 9th thru to june 23rd
(we booked last minute so had to make a swap with our resorts)

is there any way i can ask for specific rooms or buildings at these resorts?

i guess i should have asked when we made the reservation, but is it still possible to do this say by emailing guest services at DVC from the members area at the DVC website?

your help would be much appreciated

chris

You can ask but it's not that likely you'll get a specific room. If you have other requests this would reduce your chances of them being filled but since NS is one of the main requests, that just got easier with the upcoming smoking ban.

Remember that DVC runs a near total occupancy - its rare that you are there when the resort isn't 95% full - and some of the remaining rooms are out for maintenance. So to get a specific room, you need to be checking in the day that someone else checks out of that specific room or have had that room empty (and available) the night before - a fairly low chance situation. Add in that then the room has to be unassigned (and most DVC resorts use room ready - i.e. you get what is available when you show up) when you arrive and your chances go down further still.

General requests like "We want to be in the Paddocks" are better than specific requests, but even these are not always met.

At SSR, you can't request by building, only by location since the buildings are not numbered. At OKW, buildings are numbered, but we usually request by location. Such as Turtle Pond area.

The best way to get what you want is to request what is important to you. i.e. DTD view, upper floor, close to main pool, near a bus stop etc. etc. Since there will be numerous rooms that would fill those requests, they can be helpful in getting you what you want. Requesting a specific room will usually leave you disappointed, when the room right next door might have served well.
