Making reservations directly with the restaurants in Disney Springs?

When we want a reservaton for Yak & Yeti, we call the restaurant directly and book with them Does anyone know if it's possible to do the same with any new restaurants at Disney Springs.. The one I'd be most interested in would be Art Smith's Homecoming.

Open Table is a good choice for some DS restaurants. Homecomin' does not participate in that program

I was able to book a T-Rex reservation directly while it wasn'5 available on Disney Dinning last year.
