Making reservations 11 months in advance (Dec. use year)- Can I book a trip using the Dec 2021 points for next June?

I recently closed on a 160 points BLT resale contract. The contract has 160 points banked from 2020 and I will be getting another 160 points this December. My question is whether I can book a reservation at the BLT using 200 points for next year in June? I know I have to use the 160 points from 2020 first and then 40 points from this year. Do I actually have to wait till December to book a trip using those points for the following year? For example, can I make my reservation for my BLT vacation in August for a June vacation the following year using the December points of that year?

Generally speaking, do I actually have to wait till I get my points in Dec to book trips the following year? I would typically be using points from the year before to book trips. Sorry if this is so confusing.

You do not have to wait until the beginning of your UY...all of your points are already in your account. So for June 2022 you would be able to book now with banked 2020 points and the 2021 points.

You only have to wait until 7 months out to book a non-home resort, 11 months out for a home resort. UY only matters as far as when the points will be used. For a Dec UY, a June 2022 reservation would fall in your 2021 UY. You would be able to book a June reservation soon as those points are loaded into your account since we are well within 11 months.

No, you do not have to wait. June 2022 is within your 2021 use year (12/1/2021 - 11/30/2022).

To pay for that June 2022 trip you can use banked points.from 2020, points from 2021 and points borrowed from 2022. You can book that trip 11 months prior if booking your home resort and 7 months prior if booking a non-home resort.

Thank you so so much for breaking that down. I was calculating points last night and was wondering if I stay 4 nights at BLT it’ll be 192 points. Since I have 160 points banked from 2020, I would use those points first and then the 32 points from my 2021 points. At 7 months, can I modify the points I use and use the points I have from my Saratoga Springs contract and then put those 32 back into my BLT contract? Basically swap points… I hope that makes sense.

Any stay booked with home resort priority will be locked to only use home resort points at 7 months, unless the room is still available to other guests at 7 months. There will be a little locked icon in the corner of the reservation. If their are matching rooms/same category still vacant at 7 months, then you should be able to modify and swap at that point.
