Making phone calls from your in-room telephone

The last time we checked in at BCV (11-03), we were informed of the charges for using the in-room phone, local and long distance. In the past, prior to our DVC days, we were never charged for using a pre paid “calling card”. I also thought that the Vacation Club members were not subject to those charges when calling from the DVC room. Have things changed recently? Thanks

Are you asking if DVC members pay an additional fee for calling card calls? Not if they are accessed through an 800 number.

If your asking if Members pay for local calls, yes I think it is 35¢, which is cheaper than non-members. We pay the regular resort fees for long-distance calls made from the room. The only change is that local calls used to be free.

Our experience has been that there is no charge to DVC members staying on points to access an 800-number, such as are used with a calling card and a 35 cent charge for local calls (instead of 75 cents for either for cash-paying guests?). This includes our most recent trip in early January. The charges noted on the card by the phone in the room lists the rates charged to guests paying cash for a stay.

I was referring to using a prepaid calling card from a DVC room using points (calling an 800 number). I asked the CM about the charges she was quoting but got no indication that things were and different for DVC members using points for the accommodations. “Live and Learn”. Thanks

There is no charge for members staying on points to make 800 calls. This includes prepaid calling cards accessed by 800 numbers. The CM gave you incorrect information.
